We had such a wonderful stay at this apartment! It is a beautiful home, well maintained, and fits in perfectly with historic Savannah! It was more than we expected. We parked our car and walked everywhere easily and enjoyed all the varieties of cultural cuisine in Savannah. The apartment is so much better than a hotel and made our first trip to Savannah a memorable one! Highly recommend!
This apartment is amazing. This neighborhood is amazing. Nothing negative to say only that we didn't stay more than one night. Can't wait to come again. Perfect little apartment for two. Thank you Mary for your correspondence.
Can't wait to rent here again!
Really enjoyed the apartment which was conveniently located directly on Chatham Square. The apartment was super clean and well appointed. Would highly recommend staying here because of its proximity to great restaurants and entertainment. Can't wait to rent here again!
Thanks so much for the 5 stars. I used a translation site for this: It was better than we imagined. Everything fit together. Towels, dishes, glasses and even the cutlery are matched to the decor. Bed and linens perfect. We had time to look around in Savannah. A fantastic old town. We especially liked to stay in such a nice place from this time. We have enjoyed the 22 parks in which you can relax at any time from sightseeing. There the beautiful old trees have inspired us. This city and accommodation fit together perfectly and are highly recommended.
Getting away to Savannah for a few days and having this property as 'home' was just what we needed. It offered all conveniences for a restful time. We'd recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, cozy, and clean place for two. if you dont mind walking it's convenient to just about anywhere around town. It's quiet, serene, quaint, and has that historic feel and presence. Property manger was extremely helpful and thorough prior to our arrival. For us, vacation is a time for rest - and this property helped us achieve that goal.
As Advertised! Location can't be beat. 2 blocks from Beautiful Forsyth Park and a block from Historic Jones Street. Comfortable and Very Clean. Street parking was easy. Mary is easy to work with. Seamless transaction. Look forward to our return trip to this lovely unit.
Had a wonderful stay. Easy and smooth transaction with the owner. Loved the decor and location. The only thing I would comment on for other renters would be the kitchen area. There is no space for prepping food and you have to open the fridge to get into the oven. We ate out 95% of the time so this was not an issue but might be for others who plan on cooking every day. Really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again.
Couldn't be happier. The photographs and description of the property were accurate. Mary and the owner were extremely quick to respond to our questions - within a few hours in fact. Will book the property next time we visit Savannah.
This was a beautiful place to stay in. It's within a mile walking distance to nearly everything, and only about a block from Forsyth Park. Very cool architecture, and character, in this place. The view, out of the two front windows overlooking Chatham Square, is amazing to wake up to every morning. It was very clean inside. The only negative thing, I have to mention, is that you can hear literally everything that is happening outside. A car driving by or people talking, or anything. But overall, it was a fantastic place to stay, and would highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again.
Mary's historical apartment is oozing with charm! It is a great location for walking to the many squares and parks, and even to the river front. Clean and tastefully decorated, the linens are quality, and access is just one flight of stairs. Parking on the street was not too much of an issue, the view from the front windows is lovely with live oaks and azaleas in the square. The only concern is that being a corner unit, there was quite a bit of street noise at night on the weekend. Perhaps some white noise or earplugs would offset this.
Very nice residence. Right off Chatham Square. Great location. Most attractions, stores, restaurants within walking distance. Plenty of street parking available. Two day and one day parking passes for metered parking available at the Visitor's Center. Parking during the day before the St. Patrick's Day Parade was tricky. No city issued parking passes available. The day of the parade metered parking was free. Garages and private lots all booked for parade attendees at $20.00 a day for the day before and the day of the parade. These are booked sometimes months in advance No parking passes for street parking available the day before the parade, had to 'feed' the meter every two hours. Risked a parking ticket as it was cheaper than parking in the garages for two days. Also need to watch the days and times of street sweeping. Left the day of the parade, had easy access to I16 from Gordon Street. Overall a most pleasant experience. Staying in the Historical district versus down by the river was the right choice for us as far as the St. Patrick's Day celebrations go. Any other time, we'd still prefer the historic district over a modern hotel as it was most pleasant..
This is one of the easiest areas to find parking in the Historic District. Take note that St. Patrick's Day is our biggest event of the year (kind of like the Mardi Gras of Savannah) and parking is a bit different in terms of rules and availability during that annual holiday but still more than possible even during that time.
Absolutely loved this property. I was a bit nervous having never rented or gone through home away but I felt completely at home once we got there! It was the perfect location, walking distance to most places and a cheap Uber to further places :) I cannot wait to go back!! Savannah is my most favorite city! The apartment had all the charm that the city has and was just perfect.
More spacious than expected. Really nice having Chatham Square right outside the door, and Forsyth Park is just a block away. Very walkable to tons of good restaurants, shops, etc. (including River Street). Other reviewers complained about the street sounds. Perhaps it was a little louder than modern buildings, but it wasn't bad at all. The street is pretty quiet anyway. My wife and I are pleased with our stay and would recommend it to others.
We were only here 2 nights so we did not use the kitchen or laundry in the apartment. We are familiar with the area, and feel safe coming in at night. There are plenty of street lights which help to illuminate the street parking. We bought a pass so we could park almost anywhere with no hassle of having to feed the meters. The apartment was roomy for the two of us, and furnished with period furnishings. It was clean and comfortable. It was also easy dealing with Mary.
Our stay was short but perfect at this property. It is in a building built in 1853 which along with the furnishings, gives the historical feel you want when visiting Savannah. The location was fantastic as we were able to walk to everything. The little kitchen, comfy bed, beautiful living and dining room were even more than we needed. I would definitely stay here again
This beautiful apartment is close to Scad, restaurants, shops and many historic places. It is clean and has everthing you need to feel like home. The location is fantastic just walkiing distance. The owner was very nice and respond quick to messages. We will rent this property again in our next trip to Savannah Ga
Thanks Alma! So happy to hear we will have the opportunity to host you again. We love repeat guests! This really is a beautiful unit with a lot of space. And in a great location too! We really appreciate your kind words. Mary
My wife and I lived in Savannah for 4 years during medical school, and have since moved. We recently returned and loved this apartment for many reasons. Of course the place was clean, and was accurately depicted, but the most important aspects to us were location and safety. - Location: Idyllic. It is on, and commands a fantastic view of, Chatham Square. VERY close to Forsyth Park, reasonably walkable (or could go by pedi-cab) to the entire historic district. - Safety: Streets in Savannah go from safe to scary pretty quickly, but this apartment is nestled squarely in a safe part of town. It also shares a square with a SCAD building with 24/7 security. We were initially wary of a point raised by a previous reviewer regarding the potential for breaking into this apartment through a closet which is used to store the refrigerator. We found this to be a non-issue as the front door required a code to enter anyway, and there's no way that fridge would be moveable without alerting everyone in the building. - Would strongly recommend this place.
Thank you so much for the comments. This review is very helpful for those who are not familiar with downtown Savannah and may not know what to expect. We really appreciate the kind words and the time taken to describe everything in detail for future travelers.
I’ve never been so sad to leave a place before in my life! frow when I got here to the second I left I felt I was with family!! Savannah and her people ooze southern charm and hospitality!!!! The only way I can explain the experience sndclove Savannah has is like eating fried chicken at a Baptist revival still dripping wet from just being baptized!!!!
Thank you so much. Our city does have that effect on quite a few people and it is not uncommon to hear our guests are coming back to search for a home so they can relocate to live here.
Had a wonderful stay! The apartment was nice with all we needed. The location is great. We always managed a parking space. We did feel safe during our stay. One noisy neighbor and you do get some late night traffic noise, but that's Savannah. Wonderful city with a lot to do.
This property was great.....literally one block from Forsythe Park and easily accessible to DOT free transportation bus routes through Savannah's historic district and City Market. This area was quiet as many of the owners actually live here year round. We did have a small problem with ants, however after to speaking with the owner and several other nearby tenants, this is typical for this area and the LL is addressing. The property was as described and the photos are actuals. Felt very comfortable at this property and would rent again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quaint apartment! Savannah did not disappoint either. The city was quite festive at Christmas and we found the location ideal for walking and enjoying the city. We were able to fix Christmas morning breakfast for guests who were also visiting Savannah for Christmas and everything we needed was provided by our hosts! We highly recommend this property. Even attended Midnight Mass Christmas Eve at St John's and walked there and back...at 1:30AM no less and encountered only friendly people who wished Merry Christmas with a smile! Love this city. We'll be back Mary!
We had zero issues with the on street parking; this place is conveniently located close to Forsyth park so we walked everywhere; there is a sofa couch (really thin mattress so not a comfortable sleep); be mindful if you pack a huge suit case that it will need to be carried up the (maybe) 10 stairs out front, the trade off of that is there is a great view of Chatham Square out of the front windows and beautiful magnolia trees line the side windows; If there was anyone staying above or below us, we never heard a peep out of them. I gave this place 5 stars because I really enjoyed this over any of the hotel stays that we have had in Savannah (we have family there so we have made more than our fair share of trips) but the AC needs to be looked at- the thermostat never got lower than 74 degrees which doesn't sound bad but it was like being under a magnifying glass in the Savannah sun with those old windows and a useless ac. Maybe having a few smalls fans would have fixed the issue? To be fair, we never reached out to the management about the ac, assuming that that was just how it was. Even with that, I would still love to stay here again and recommend this property.
Thanks for the 5 stars! This location is indeed such a perfect Savannah experience. During this person's reservation our city was in the high 90's so indeed the AC can only maintain approximately 74 indoor temps during the day but the cold air constantly blowing makes most guests feel comfortable. The difference between the hot outdoors and the cool apartment is very distinct when one comes inside from a steamy walk through the city. At night the AC should be able to reach 69-70 easily even in the heat of the summer. We can certainly add 1 or more floor fans if this comment recurs! We have guests staying constantly through the hottest days of the summer. So glad we have another guest planning on a repeat visit! Thanks again!
This rental was located in a very quiet section of town. We had no problem finding a parking space and there was not alot of traffic. Lovely decor makes you feel right at home. Enough cooking items to make meals in if you want to. This is an older home and does have a few creaks here and there but thats the beauty of these older homes in my opinion. Close in for a short walk in the park or to do some exploring. Savannah has a lot to offer so go out and explore.
Great location in the historic district and the perfect "Savanah" experience. I didn't hear anything from the property manager which is fine, but that includes when leaving- I suggested someone look at the toilet as it's leaking. I didn't hear anything back ! Kind of sad, no "thanks" or "thanks for staying". Nothing.
