Enjoyed our Stay
We really enjoyed staying in the historic district. Apartment was close enough to walk to River Street and many other attractions in the area. The apartment was cute with plenty of room for the 4 of us. Check in process was very easy. The back porch could use some work especially since it is used to get to the reserved parking spot (use with caution as noted). Overall we would definitely book this property again.
AHHHHMAZING
I am so lucky to have found this place. I made a last minute booking for a busy time of the year and this was the last place downtown available at an affordable price. The only time we had to drive was when we went to the beach. We walked everywhere else because downtown Savannah is right outside the door! Very quick walk to amazing restaurants, bars, and the river! I can’t wait to come back. The apartment was perfect and very cool and relaxing after a long day on the town.
Highly Recommend
We loved staying here so we could easily tour around downtown Savannah. Beautiful tall ceilings, light, and plenty of space for our party of 4. Highly recommend!!!
Perfect location to explore the city and very comfortable. My only comment is that there are no blackout curtains, so if you are a light sleeper who wants to sleep in, you may want to bring a face mask.
We had a lovely stay at our Colonial Park Retreat for the Savannah Music Festival, Swing Central Jazz Competition. Our host was attentive and the place was just as advertised. Convenient walk to our activities by the riverfront. Would stay here again. A little noisy in the mornings, but we were up and out pretty early so didn't bother us too much.
This little apartment was perfect for a few days to get away. Walking distance to everything and it was a quiet street. My only complaint was the king bed was too hard but that's just me, I like my beds squishy.
WOW! How do I begin? My stay in Savannah this year was for an 88 year old family member who I was helping drive through his Bucket List. The trip was 4 months long and we were set to stay in a location in Savannah that ended up being a literal Construction Zone! Dumpsters, Flying boards, Dust, Banging and non-stop Nail Guns! When we complained that we were set to stay for almost a month the owner basically just gave us the finger! Here is where the GOOD STORY BEGINS! Mary and her Husband came to the rescue and offered us this wonderful quaint centrally located spot. After two full days and nights of Hell Mary and her Husband worked with us to make sure our transition to their location would be smooth and easy! From the very first moment we entered the apartment My 88 year old uncle said,"OK! Now we have arrived in Savannah!" There is a bit of a climb up Two flights of stairs....BUT...Once you get to the apartment it is your new home away from home! There are two bedrooms, one with a King Size Bed and one with Two Twin beds, The Living Room has a very comfortable couch with a see through to the kitchen that we made into a guest bar for friends who came to visit to pay their respects for an 88 year old Teacher, Historian, and someone who ran for Congress with the help of a Rockefeller! Across the street is a small sitting park for drinking coffee and reading and was a perfect addition to the location. Down the block is an old City Cemetery that is wonderful for walks and quiet introspection. But one of the greatest parts is that you are pretty much centrally located in the Historic Downtown area and the FREE bus that circles the entire city passes bye right on the corner of Liberty Street. Which means you have access to the entire city for FREE at all times. We took the bus and ate Oysters at Sorry Charlies across town then took the bus again and had coffee and desert on the cobblestone walk by the dock, then one more trip back to the apartment where you pass by one of the most beautiful churches in the city! DO NOT miss a 15 min excursion to see this church and the wondrous interior. I can't say enough good about this location, this apartment or the wonderful owners that literally saved, not just a temporary stay in Savannah, but the beginning of a 4 month Bucket List Trip for a Wonderful 88 year old man who is deserving of a last trip through the Hospitable South and a final good bye hug from so many family and friends. May God Bless you!
The apartment is in a central location, walkable to everything. The reserved parking is a great perk. I really loved the original details and charm of the apartment. My one complaint is the master bed mattress. It was extremely uncomfortable and loud. Other than the lack of sleep from the bed, the trip and apartment were perfect!
The location was perfect. Safe neighborhood and convenient to most popular shops and restaurants. The mattress desperately needs an upgrade. The water pressure in shower terrible.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights. I was very pleased with the location. We rented a car for Saturday thru Tues. We never even used the car on Sunday. And Monday we visited Tybee Island (only 25 min away). Everything is close and within walking distance. The historic district is WHERE TO STAY! So much going on all day and night. The only negative is was it was pretty noisy at night at street level. We could hear people talking on the street below late into the wee hours. The traffic level is pretty loud too. The stairs were fine for us, but for an older couple it could be an issue. Other than that. I would recommend this apartment. It was clean and well furnished and everything went off without a hitch. Thank you for allowing to stay at your home.
Really enjoyed our visit and the 3rd floor apt. was nice and clean. My only complaint was it was pretty noisy on the street at night, but I am not used to that. We walked everywhere except the day trip to Tybee. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Location was fantastic, decor was nice. Manager was very accessible via text. Only complaints were 1) cooler vent above master bed formed condensation and dropped on my wife’s head in the night, and 2) master bed was super-squeaky. Hotel construction is done so don’t let the reviews from a few months ago concern you. Would definitely visit again.
Great location for our girls weekend! Very clean and we were able to walk easily to anything we wanted to see in downtown Savannah. Easy to find and the parking spot was great as well. Would definitely stay here again! The owner was also very responsive to any questions we had while we were there which was very nice as well.
We had a minor issue getting access to the lockbox (we were mistakenly given the code for the downstairs apt), but the owner was very quick to respond to our phone call and within 5 mins we were inside. Everything was in great shape and as described in the write-up. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our stay. Easy walking distance to several great restaurants. My only complaint is that there is no handrail or grab-bar in the shower, which made my elderly mother a little insecure.
The location of the apartment was excellent for walking throughout Savannah's historic district. My friends and I enjoyed being able to return to the apartment during the day to relax before heading out for the evening. The amenities were good. Kitchen was fully outfitted with everything we needed to prepare meals, or reheat food we had purchased earlier. All appliances worked, including the washer, dryer and TV. WiFI was good. The beds were fairly comfortable, although a little soft for us. The bathroom was a good size, but be aware that the shower/tub could be a little dangerous as there is nothing to hold on to getting in/out of the tub and there is no rubber mat in the bottom to prevent a fall. This is easily rectified. The construction of the hotel behind the apartment is complete. The grand opening is June 1st!! There was no issue with noise and the workers were very polite.
Many steps, construction going on behind building which started at 7 am even on Sunday! Very noisy and dusty. Felt the property needs some attention to improve the stays of renters. However property was clean.
So to start, I did not hear any construction during our stay, and what we did hear was very minimal, mostly deliveries of furniture to the new hotel behind it. The apartment was very clean, the location was excellent, the furniture could use some updating but we barely used it as we spent most of our time out on the town. One recommendation I do have would be some sort of electronic lock system because have a set of keys all the time was a little tedious especially if your group splits and does separate activities. But thanks again for the stay!
We have been using HomeAway/VRBO for several years in several states and overseas. We feel a responsibility to clarify the misleading information we received for benefit of future renters. After reading the reviews of this potential rental for our stay in Savannah the last week of February 2018, I contacted the property Manager via phone on January 29th regarding the noise level from the construction behind the property. I was told in that conversation that the construction was mostly complete but that landscaping and some interior work may still be ongoing. I was also told that the work crews should be done by 4:30 pm and not begin work until 8:00 am. I also received the following direct quote on January 29th from the property Manager from Savannah Luxury Rentals: “THE HOTEL IS SCHEDULED TO OPEN NEXT MONTH, SO THE CONSTRUCTION IS NEARLY DONE. THERE IS MAINLY LANDSCAPING AND FINISHING INTERIOR WORK HAPPENING NOW, SO I (PROPERTY MANAGER) THINK NOISE IS MUCH LESS OF A CONCERN NOW” Much to our dismay, this was far from accurate. The two buildings behind the apartment were active construction sites. Active from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm or later every day, except Monday when they started at 5:45 am unloading materials in front of the apartment and moving them to the rear of the apartment and lifting them to upper floors with a crane. The area was loud, very dusty and with constant beeping of machines, grinders, cranes, and forklift trucks moving about. I am fully aware that the property manager of this apartment is not responsible for nor has any control over the construction. However, she does have the responsibility to be fully Forthright when questioned about the construction and noise intrusion visitors will endure. I would have expected more from a HomeAway Premier Partner! In the short time we were there, we spoke to the many construction crews and were told that they were behind schedule and will work when needed to complete for an opening date in Mid May. This would have been good to know when making a decision. While this property is in a wonderful location and the problems we faced did not take away from our enjoyment of this wonderful city, our next visit will not include this area.
Owner Response
I am so sorry this guest was unhappy and as soon as she let me know on day 2 of her 6 night stay I offered to refund her if she did not want to stay. She told me that was not a viable option because it would be too hard to find another place to stay. I told her I had many choices for her to move to for her next 4 nights all within the Historic District and it was a shame for her to stay where she was not happy but for some reason she was miffed at that offer and told me the conversation was over. The hotel construction disclosure comment has been on our public advertisement for about a year and will remain until the activity is completely finished. The information this guest got directly from the hotel construction workers was accurate, they were behind on their opening date and working overtime. This hotel is called Perry Lane Hotel and there have been may press releases regarding it's target opening date. I am sorry anyone on my staff relayed anything remotely positive in January but we did believe their opening date target would be before busy spring season in Savannah as they had announced. The construction of this luxury hotel affects many vacation rentals, permanent residents and businesses. It has caused the owner of this rental, along with myself, many headaches because we cannot stand for our guests to be disturbed and it is completely out of our control. We are beyond grateful for the many guests who have stayed during this time who have found the positive aspects of this central location to outweigh the negative. We do look forward to a time in the near future when the hotel is open and our guests can hopefully benefit from another nice restaurant nearby, to add to the many that currently exist here in the center of the Landmark Historic District.
Overall the apartment was ok. Location was great, downsides there were only 3 wash cloths provided for 5 of us. A few things needed fixed. The bathroom door knob was not working, the king bed was very squeeky. It was very noisy because of construction , parking was somewhat of a problem but realize these thing we're out of her control. We truly did enjoy our stay in Savannah.
Great location!! Construction occurring behind the apartment. Construction began at 630am each morning waking us up. Was not told by realtor that the construction was occurring when booked apartment. Apartment located on major street, lots of late night noise. Was told by realtor to look for black awning on outside of front door when locating property. Huge tree in front of front door and not able to see awning. Need to update pictures when advertising. Parking space was provided with apartment, but due to construction occurring getting to parking space was a huge pain!
Owner Response
Glad to see this person enjoyed this location. Our ad has had a note about the hotel construction behind this building for many months, we are sorry this person did not notice that in the information. Many people have stayed and been fine with it, but others have been bothered, such as this person. The oak tree has been in front of the house for many many years and updating the photos would not change anything since the tree is very old and the photos are from last year. The house numbers are sequentially ordered (and all booked guests get the physical address of this home) so if you do not instantly recognize the black awning from the photo simply read the neighboring house numbers which are not blocked by the tree and find your door that way. This is a very central area on a major street downtown and easy to find using a basic map but GPS easily takes you to the right location as well.
This apartment is in a great location and was very clean and comfortable. I would advise providing better instructions for finding the parking pad and adding a few chairs in the courtyard for morning coffee. We arrived late and struggled finding the parking pad. I walked down the street and enjoyed my coffee in a park, but the apartment does have a beautiful shared courtyard, just no chairs. I would stay here again. Stacey Riley, Donalsonville,Ga
Stayed with 3 friends for a "girls getaway". In a perfect central location for sightseeing the historic district. Clean and comfortable accommodations. Close-by restaurants (J. Christoper's and Clary's Cafe) for a nice breakfast or brunch were within easy walking distance. Also, Parker's Urban Market was close by for picking up quick eats or drinks.
This property is very clean and spacious for our family of 4, which included 2 teenagers. It was located within walking distance to restaurants and attractions. There is Parkers Market-gas station/convenience store located within a 2 minute walk on Drayton St. The owner was very responsive to emails and texts. We would highly recommend staying here!
Location, location, location. This sweet little apartment is in a perfect location for our purposes, which was to visit the Savannah College of Art & Design. It is also within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions in the city. The apartment is on the top floor, so two flights of stairs to navigate. It is decorated in a sort of beach cottage vibe. Everything was neat and clean, all of the appliances worked, linens were nice, cable tv and wifi available. Location is pretty quiet in the late afternoons and evenings (we weren't around during the days). There is a construction site behind it, but we didn't notice alot of noise coming from the site, thankfully. Our one complaint would be that the air conditioner- which is very effective in the heat & humidity - is a bit noisy when it turns on and off. I'm a light sleeper, so it bothered me. My husband and boys slept right through it. Given a choice between being hot & sticky or the occasional noise from the unit, I'd take the air conditioning of course! Overall - good value for the price, great location, comfortable. We would have easily spent twice as much staying in a hotel.
Perfect location despite the construction behind the unit. You can easily walk anywhere. There is a little market down the street. The unit was spotless which is important to me. Loved the off street parking space.
The property was very nice. It was clean and the location was convenient to River Street area and other historical interest. The owner was also very friendly and responded quickly to inquires. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
My husband and two daughters really enjoyed staying in this great apartment in downtown Savannah. It was conveniently located near many lovely restaurants and we walked everywhere. Forsyth Park was beautiful and we went to the local museums quite easily. The parking spot was pretty nice to have as well. The high ceilings and well appointed furnishings made our stay very comfortable. The night that we got into Savannah, I noticed that the stopper to the bathtub was not working and after texting Mary, she was able to get me a replacement stopper at 10pm at night! I was blown away by her professionalism and attention to detail. I highly recommend this affordable spot!
This apartment is lovely, with just enough space for our family of two adults and two teenagers. It was very clean and comfortable. The location couldn't be beat as we could walk anywhere in historic Savannah. The city felt very safe and we often walked late at night. In addition, the parking spot was a huge bonus. I agree with previous reviews that more than two people cannot eat together and the bar was uncomfortable for anyone with long legs. It would be better if they could add a couple of chairs and a slightly bigger table. Most importantly, we were concerned about needing a key to unlock both the apartment and the building doors from the inside. This seemed like a big safety issue, plus it was inconvenient when our family wanted to split up with some people returning to the apartment earlier. Either they needed to be locked in with no way to leave if necessary or the others had no way to get back inside. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at the apartment and would recommend it.
This was the perfect mix of being close to everything but far enough away for a little relaxation from the night life. Beautiful home with a quaint little shared back patio and a stones throw away from sight seeing, food, and gas. My husband and I, along with his step mother, had a perfect time on our weekend in Savannah with ample amounts of space for all of us. We can't wait to return for another trip and another property of Mary's.
The location was awesome, still walkable to everything in the historic district but set a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle. We love the historic feel to everything but wished the apartments decor reflected the style and age of the home, just to fully enter in to the southern colonial experience. One complaint is that the place sleeps 6 however there is not dining space for 6. There are 2 stools at the pass through window and 2 chairs at a small table. One safety concern: you must use the key to get in AND OUT of the doors. If there was an emergency it would not be safe to be locked in and need a key. We expressed this concern to management upon leaving so hopefully they considered changing it. Overall we were very happy with the rental!
My husband and I rented this property to share with our friends from Germany with whole we only get to visit every 2-3 years. Everyone was impressed with the property. The location, cleanliness and amenities were spot on. We had a fabulous get away. The price was extremely reasonable and the manager seemed lovely. We truly enjoyed a few of her recommendations for eating and shopping.
My husband and I were visiting Savannah with our adult daughter and her friend. This apartment was perfect for the four of us. It was great to have a place to park the car and not have to worry about it or pay extra for parking. We easily walked everywhere we wanted to go, or used pedicabs if time was pressing. It's in a great location--convenient but quiet, with the Colonial Cemetery right across the street. Just one block over on Drayton is Parker's Market, a great deli that is open 24 hours a day. We walked over for breakfast bowls and bagels every morning. There are tables there for dining in, or you can take out. The apartment is very nicely decorated with lovely wood floors. The kitchen is well-equipped and makes great use of the space. Mary was always available any time we called with a question. We needed a light bulb for one of the lamps and she brought one over very quickly. Laundry and dishwasher detergent was provided, which was nice. There are a few ice cube trays in the freezer, but no ice maker, so we just purchased a bag of ice one block over at the "7 to 11" store. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in Savannah.
We really enjoyed our stay in Savannah this past weekend. The apartment is in a great spot and had plenty of room. The fireplaces are very charming. Having a parking spot was great too! Will stay here again.
This apartment/condo was perfect for our weekend retreat to Savannah. It was nicely furnished and was more than adequate in size for my wife, 1 year old, and me. Great location and within walking distance to everything. I also felt completely safe. Noise was not an issue for us. Beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!
My family and I stayed at this perfectly located apartment for three nights and couldn't have been more pleased. Once we parked our car in the parking spot out back, we didn't get back into it until it was time to head back home. We walked everywhere - including the beautiful cemetery across the street - taking in Savannah's historic district in the best way possible, on foot. The apartment itself was clean, comfortable, and the right size for the three of us (my husband, myself, and our 7-year-old son). We would definitely return.
We loved staying here! It was convinent, clean and comfortable. The layout of the apartment was perfect for us, the parking in the back was a bonus! Definitely recommend staying here to anyone going to savannah. We'll definitely stay here again in the future!
I was here on business for a few weeks, and spent the weekends as a tourist. This is a great place to see all of historic Savannah because you can easily walk everywhere. It is near good restaurants and shopping and a local grocery store. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was great to be able to do my laundry. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were very comfortable. Having my own parking spot in the back made life easy. Mary was attentive to all my needs and easy to work with. I would recommend any of her properties. I gave four stars instead of five stars because you can hear car and pedestrian traffic from the bedroom at night.
Owner Response
Thanks for the great review from our first guest. It's important to understand that the downtown (Historic District) is a tight grid of streets and it's impossible to be in a prime location without cars driving by. The noise level is not very high here compared to some locations (you are not next to a bar or live music venue) but there will be a city activity "hum" in any prime tourist address. We can provide a bedside white noise machine for guests who are accustomed to the true quiet of a more rural setting. -Mary
Loved this place!
Loved this place! Location was amazing, you could walk to downtown in about 5 minutes, river front in 10 minutes. Right across from colonial cemetery. Best location I have stayed in. Had its own parking spot which is rare in Savannah. Plenty of space super quiet and safe area. I would definitely stay here again!
Quaint and adorable!
Amazing place! Quaint and adorable and not too far from the river walk. All the amenities you will need and the communication was awesome. We had a few issues due to our own mistakes and Mary was so kind and helpful through all of it.25/10 would recommend this place for an amazing experience in Savannah
