Perfect for 4!
The house was a perfect size for the four of us. The street was nice and quiet and an easy walk places. Theres a cute communal patio area in the back.
perfect location!
Loved our stay! Perfect location, easy parking, cute decor and overall great stay. Loved the record player and digital screen with local details. Cant wait to stay here on our next visit to Savannah.
We enjoyed our stay. The house was roomy enough for 3 adults. The two rooms are visually private but only separated by a french door, so sounds can travel. Beds were comfortable! We easily found street parking. Clary's Cafe, which had a great breakfast, is a short walk down the street. It was nice strolling down the street to see the historic houses. Neighborhood was very nice too.
Perfect for my husband and I. (with lots of extra room ). We loved Savannah - and the location allowed us to go for a run every morning. Head to downtown (by foot ) and grab food and shopping. We never had to get in our car - opted to only to visit tybee island. House is authentic and very clean. Loved our stay and would highly recommend
We had a great weekend at this cute cottage ! Was perfect for 2 couples visiting Savannah for the first time. Walking distance to the historical district and all the comforts of home. Will definitely return.
Love it! Definitely will return. This home is located in a great historic area to the city of Savannah. The property is cute, quaint and easy access to the cities events and activities. The property is clean and very comfortable. We will return.
We spent three nights in Savannah in this quaint little cottage. The description is spot on, there was nothing misrepresented or inaccurate. We had just the right amount of space for our foursome, the right amount of kitchen utensils, the right location to walk almost anywhere, basically, the right everything. The only thing that wasn't right, and was not the owner's fault, is that we tried sitting out in the courtyard but the bugs were relentless and we couldn't really enjoy the outside area. We ourselves are not loud people, but neither were any of the folks staying around us (there are strict noise ordinances for renters, which I was happy to learn since we were not there to party, per se). This little cottage looked small in comparison to the regal properties that surrounded it, but it was big in comfort! The full size washer and dryer in the bathroom was fantastic - we left for the next leg of our trip with all clean clothes! And our checkout expectations were extremely minimal - basically take out the trash and wash the dishes. That's it! We've stayed in rental properties before where we were expected to strip and wash our bed sheets and leave only one load to be completed. This certainly made our transition much easier. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Savannah in the future - just bring bug spray!
Found a hidden gem in one of the most picturesque streets in Savannah. The house is well appointed and had everything needed for a quick escape or an extended stay. The beds were super comfortable, and bedrooms spacious. The location was ideal and easy for walking to local highlights and restaurants. Parking in the street is free and isn’t metered like most; we were a bit worried about what to expect but came back to an empty spot in front just waiting for us the few times we drove due to the rain showers. The history and charm of the house was an added bonus. Will definitely return.
Clean, spacious, historic home within walking distance of 2 trolley stops. On street parking was never a problem in this quiet neighborhood. We loved having morning coffee on the back patio. This home has everything you need for a short or long stay.
My fiance and I found this cottage to be very comfortable, charming, and clean. The location was great--close to many interesting tourist sites and restaurants. We had a memorable time visiting Savannah.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this well equipped and extremely comfortable cottage. The beds were beyond comfortable and the neighborhood was amazingly quiet. We slept like babies. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and hope to come back!
Great location, very cute house. Parking was easy on the street. The washer and dryer was very handy to use too. Would totally stay here again if we go back to Savannah. Easy walking to Forsyth Park and tons of yummy restaurants!
This was a great place for my family to spend a couple of days in Savannah. It is a close walk or drive to everything. The house was clean and in a quiet area. Mary was quick to reply to any messages. I would stay here again!
We came here for my bachelorette party and we could not have picked a better place! Only having had been to Savannah one other time, I was not too familiar with the layout of the city, but this property is close enough to be within walking distance of everything, but far enough away that it is nice and quiet and street parking is plentiful! Overall GREAT experience!!
This cottage was perfect for our family of two adults and two children. It is located in a quiet neighborhood but it is close enough to walk to the more action packed areas of town. The beds were super comfy, it was clean and it had everything we needed. We only used the kitchen to make coffee and cereal so we can’t really attest to how well equipped it was. Parking was never a problem and we always felt safe. We will definitely try to book this cottage again the next time we visit Savannah!
Very cute house that made our girls weekend with 4 women very comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and the patio in the back was great for coffee and chatting in the morning. Good location. Easy to walk to restaurants and shops. Adorable neighborhood. Laundry on site was a nice perk too. Great price for what we got.
Three girlfriends from High School (class of '68) spent two nights here. It was great! Very comfortable and clean. It is in a safe, walkable area of Savannah. Parking is on quiet street, and spots are easy and available. Great weekend..we took a short drive on Monday to view the total eclipse in South Carolina.
This cottage is adorable . My sister and 2 children (23 and 16) stayed here. for a week's vacation. This cottage had everything you need for a comfortable week and my daughter said her bed was the most comfortable she had slept in and would miss it when she got home. Kitchen was furnished with everything one would need for cooking and the decorating was nicely done. Close to the historic district and River Street so the location cannot be beat. I would definitely stay here again on a visit to Savannah!
We couldn't believe how quiet the area was and how easy it was to get to popular areas! The memory foam bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was supplied with basics. Everything down to the bathroom and laundry was as expected.
The house was a great fit for four of us. Parking was easy and the shared patio was enjoyable. We were close to everything and loved walking Jones Street. The only downside was the lack of dishes (e.g. bowls to eat and cook with, and glasses or cups for drinking), other than that it's a great place!
Location, location, location! This lovely little cottage was a fabulous place to stay while discovering Savannah and all the beautiful sights it has to offer. It was away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but close to enough to walk or pedicab anywhere you wanted to go! Record breaking temperatures where hard to take but our AC was wonderful! Kitchen could have been better stocked with utensils and bowls but otherwise it was a great place to stay!
We loved the cottage on 540 east Jones St. Over all very nice clean place. Very nice roomy kitchen. Beds were very nice and comfortable. We fully intend on renting this cottage again in the near future. Thanks for a great stay.
The cottage was exactly as represented. The unexpected bonus was the charm of the cottage and the beauty of the street and surrounding homes and landscaping. Easy to walk to many places. Quiet location. We will recommend it to friends. We made special memories with some of our family there, celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary. Myra and Larry Low
We loved the outdoor space and meeting our "cottage neighbors". The walk up and down beautiful Jones street was lovely! Can't wait to come back!
Four of us attended QuiltCon 2017 (the Modern Quilt Guild's eastern show) and stayed at the Jones St. cottage. Mary had everything ready for us and was quick to respond to questions during our stay. The house was clean, all appliances as well as heat/AC were in fine working order, plenty of towels and bed linen. Possible improvements could include tightening up the shower faucet (the shower worked just fine) and touching up the paint in the bathroom. The location was great for us, a short drive to the convention center across the river. Also within easy walking distance of historic sites and some restaurants. And the backyard patio was lovely for breakfast! Wish we had known more about recycling of bottles, cans, paper---being from a place where all recyclables are picked up at the curb. We only realized when we brought out the trash on the last day that there was also a recycling bin!
Girlfriends weekend in Savannah was perfect thanks to a lovely stay on East Jones Street. The cottage is comfortable and ideally located, it couldn't have been more perfect. Everythng you could need is provided and the cottage was spotless. Looking forward to a return trip with my husband.
We had a great stay in Savannah. The bungalow was in a nice and safe neighborhood. We had a girls reunion and gathered for the weekend. The home has a nice courtyard in the back that shared with the other bungalow from the other side. We met the other guests and had fun conversations around the table and chairs. We walked to various restaurants, sites and the river area of Savannah. The street is picturesque with big trees, old historic buildings. The home had all we needed, nice sheets/pillows/blankets. The kitchen was nice and convenient for our needs. The bathroom was roomy and beds were comfortable. The wifi worked great. We would recommend to any of our friends and family. Mary was easy to contact and responded immediately. We used uber for any taxi needs. You do not need a car to stay here. It is easy to get around. Thanks for a great weekend!
This is a charming home, on a historic street that offers an authentic experience in the heart of Savannah. Even with 2 kids (ages 2 and under) in tow, our stay was easy, hassle free and it felt very safe. Thank you.
My daughter and I stayed at Mary's rental at the end of August. The cottage is a beautiful two bedroom cottage on a lovely quiet street. The description and pictures are accurate, but it is so much prettier in person. It was easy to communicate with Mary, parking was easy, and the cottage was both well appointed and very clean. It was easy walking to all the areas we visited. The beds are very comfortable. Make sure to read through all the information on the mantle for ideas - Savannah runs a fare free bus that stops not far from the cottage! We would highly recommend Mary's cottage. (And thank you for mailing my daughter's dress!) E
Let me start off by saying that the description of the house is modest. While on the Old Savannah Tour I learned that the house is located on what was voted the most beautiful street in all of America by Southern Living Magazine! The home and immediate area are well kept. If your the athletic type and don't mind walking, you can walk the full historical area. I rented a car to go out to Tybee Island and to visit other outlying areas. If your driving be sure to read the signs because I am returning home with a $25 ticket.
This cute cottage was absolutely charming inside! We stayed in the cottage for a long weekend and found it an easy walk to downtown. The cottage itself had plenty of room for four of us - it was clean and cozy inside. I would highly recommend this place for a stay in Savannah.
The cottage is in a great location, walkable to everything or a short Uber ride. Perfectly appointed--even has a record player with old records! Old historic feel but with updates all modern amenities. Very comfortable living room, and beds. Didn't cook, but kitchen appeared well equipped. Easy to book and get into, no having to time your arrival to meet the host as there is a lockbox.
I stayed here for a girls weekend and it was fantastic! The cottage was clean, close to everything and the beds were very comfortable. Mary was kind enough to gift us a bottle of wine which was a great touch. I highly recommend this place!
We were very happy staying in Mary's cottage. Originally I was a little concerned about safety in Savannah, since I am a single mom with 3 kids and had never visited the city before. But my fears were quickly put to rest - the area is beautiful & the cottage was conveniently located. We walked everywhere! My only regret is that I rented a car - don't bother! I used it one day to drive to Tybee island, other than that it was a waste. The cottage itself is small but convenient, a perfect fit for the 4 of us. It was immaculate and the beds were comfortable. Mary was very organized & responsive to any questions I had. I would definitely stay here again.
Terrific location, within walking distance to most everything you want to see in Savannah. The house is decorated so nicely, but also very comfortable. On the street parking was convenient. Our first night we arrived very late, after midnight. No parking was available on East Jones, but we found a spot a few blocks away, so no big deal. We just moved the car the next morning. No problem the rest of our stay.
We stayed in this E. Jones street cottage for two nights. It was a great place to call home away from home. Very clean and modern on the inside with everything you need for a short or long stay. It is located on the far edge of the Historic District, but still within a mile or less of everything you'd want to do. And the longer you stay, the shorter the distance becomes! Street parking is fine and we felt very safe. Definitely will book again next time we go to Savannah.
This beautiful cottage is exactly as pictured in the VRBO ad, and it was perfectly warm, cozy and fun for my family of four. We try to visit friends in Savannah every year, so I'm familiar with several VRBOs in town. This is by far my favorite. It is on a beautiful, historic block of Jones street and is easily walkable to both Forsyth Park and Broughton Street (shopping) and River Street (restaurants and bars). It was also attractively priced and proved an exceptional value for how great the property truly is. I don't think we'll be staying in other VRBOs next trip... I think we've found one we can call our home away from home!
I stayed at this cottage with three other women for a girls weekend in November. We were easily able to access the cottage and get the key. The cottage was very clean and provided everything we needed. The location was great for the price. We walked everywhere in Savannah except for one night where we took an Uber since it was cold outside. We had no issues with parking. We saw the streets signs regarding the street cleaning on certain nights, but we easily able to find a parking spot on the opposite side of the road. We never had to park more than a house or two down the block. Overall this property was exactly what we were looking for within our price range.
Everything was really nice, the only draw back of the property is that both bedrooms are only split by glass doors. Great for families, but not necessarily for couples.
Owner Response
This review has prompted some questions about the bedroom setup. You do not have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other. And the double glass doors like a set of exterior french doors, and each side has a set noise reducing blackout curtains that can be drawn across the French doors. Therefore it is not really much different from 2 rooms separated by a wall.
This historic home was great for the price and VERY clean. I was traveling with someone who is almost a germaphobe and she was really impressed with how clean everything was. The beds are comfortable, the décor is super cute. There are only a few small details which keep me from giving it 5 stars: -although the rental agreement casually mentioned "obey parking laws"...its doesn't come out and state that there is no parking in front of the property on Saturday night. As a property manager I feel like it is the least you could do to mention that little fact. Both cars in my party got tickets and this could have been avoided with a mention of that in the rental agreement or even with a personal email. I realize ultimately this is our fault by not seeing the small sign which mentioned Saturday night sweeping. I just know if I owned the property, and it were rented on a Saturday I would make sure to bring it to the attention of the renting party. -the bathroom. I didn't think that 1 bathroom would be an issue with 4 people. And really isn't wasn't a huge deal. Waiting on each other in the morning to get ready wasn't a terrible problem. The only thing that sucked is if you had to go to the bathroom and someone was taking 20 minutes to finish up their shower, etc. OVERALL THE PROPERTY IS GREAT AND AFFORDABLE!
Owner Response
The street sweeping reminder is in the house notebook. Since the wifi code is in the same notebook most people should notice it. One side of Jones is swept Friday night and the other is swept Saturday night so all our weekends guests need to swap sides during their stay. Street signs are posted with the sweeper times which are in the middle of the night. You will not be towed if you forget to move, but you will receive a ticket for being in the way. Anyone who choses a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom rental over a 2BR/2BA is probably doing so to save money. It's important to remember there are properties available with more bathrooms, more seating, etc for more money. We will continue to offer a great cottage that looks exactly like the ad, and is super clean.
We were looking for a last minute getaway for a girls reunion. This home was perfect, with comfortable beds, and well supplied kitchen, and ample space to move around. The home was exceptionally clean, I did not feel the need to keep my flops on. Great location too! I would definitely stay here again.
The Cottage was absolutely perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway! It was everything shown in the pictures and more! Jones street was beautiful, in the heart of the city yet tucked away in a quiet area. The owner was wonderful to work with and I will definitely consider renting again!
We just returned from staying in this beautiful cottage. It's beautifully decorated, very clean and has the most comfortable beds of any rental we've stayed in. We were within walking distance to everything the Historic District has to offer. Parking was a breeze. Waking up every morning to the view of Jones Street was such an amazing experience. We will be back to stay in this lovely unit.
This little house is so charming! It was clean and had everything we needed. Jones Street is easily the most beautiful street in Savannah! The trolley route is close and it's also within walking distance to everything. I will definitely be back!
Adorable little house in the historic district. Within walking distance of everything (ie Forsythe Park, Wright Square, City Market, Bay St and much more. Quiet neighborhood and easy parking on the street. This home is recently remodeled so all modern conveniences are available in a old home with character. We loved it! Also very close to a Kroger. Everything was there, clean and ready for our stay. We only needed our personal belongings. Owner easy to contact with any questions and was very helpful. Resonably priced for the area. We were very comfortable and hated to leave. Would definitely stay there again! Thanks for a wonderful place to stay. It was perfect!
The house was nicely renovated and the decor was really nice! I was 1 of 6 women staying at this location and we were not cramped like I thought we would be. Felt bigger than 800 sq. We were in town for a race and we were right where we needed to be. The only downfall was the parking situation on Friday and Saturday night from 12-4 am due to sweeping of the streets. Which is no fault of the owners! Just bothersome because we used the car those nights and when we came back we had to park 2 blocks over. But other than that the house and location was spot on! Mary was very nice and helpful!! We really enjoyed our stay and having one bathroom for 6 women was actually not an issue. Need to know what hot water heater you have Mary because we never ran out of hot water! Will stay here again if I get the chance in November or whenever we come back to Savannah!
Owner Response
So glad everyone has been happy. We decided to accommodate a max of 5 adults going forward instead of 6 in this small house based on some logistical things such as the dining table and also after learning from the furniture store that sofa bed sleeper frames are made to hold 200 pounds total. The parking is pretty easy but these ladies were here during a crowded marathon event. If you come home in the car late at night, right at the street sweeper time (midnight on Saturday night is one side, 10:30 on Fri night is the other) you may find you have to park on the next block but most people do not have this problem because they park opposite the sweeper side earlier in the day. Many guests choose to leave their car all day & night and walk or take a cab to the congested River area. Weekdays it is not an issue anyway.
This place was very nicely decorated. From the hardwood floors to the pretty bathroom, you can tell this condo is loved and well maintained. Mary was so helpful and got back to me very quickly. It was a joy staying here and the location couldn't have been better.
We also decided on Savannah without much advance research. I checked VRBO on a Saturday to check in the following Monday for a 2 night stay. We arrived at 830p Monday night & there was a little snafu at check in to our rental. I called Mary, she immediately answered the phone & had our problem solved within seconds. We did not even have time to be upset!! :) This is a beautifully beachy decorated stand alone cottage. Mary & her husband were very quick to offer any help or changes. They had just brought in a record player & several albums. My husband & I enjoyed this so much, Jitterbugging & disco'ing to the music! We have already recommended & raved to our friends about the property & will likely visit this lovely laid back area again. From this location everywhere we wanted to go was walkable. Only suggestion I would make is a small night table & lamp for both sides of the bed for eyes glasses & books. Loved the cottage & Savannah so much we stayed an extra night. We had breakfast twice at Clareys (Which is unusual for me I like to experience as many places at possible) Six Pence, Mercer Mansion, St John Baptist Church, There is a FREE ferry boat ride. LOTS to do . A night time walk has a different more romantic feel to the area.
We took a last minute trip to Savannah and everything was booked so we picked a new one without getting to see any reviews. We did not even get to see pictures before we showed up! We were actually blown away by how beautiful this cottage was, as soon as we opened the door we were so excited. The location was ideal for touring the Historic District and Mary was super helpful, you can tell she knows what she is doing because there was even an iron and ironing board, hairdryer, wine opener, you name it... everything we needed even though I think she finished setting this up about 3 minutes before we walked in the door. We would definitely stay here again and will be sending our friends to this cottage too.
Super clean and conveniently located near everything
“OMG, what can I say.. The place was amazing. It felt like home away from home. The guest-board filled with everything we needed to know about entertainment and fun things to do,plus places to go eat. My family and I will, definitely be renting directly from Mrs.Mary and her beautiful properties.”
