First let me say, if you want to stay close to downtown to walk to the shops or restaurants or do some sight seeing, you will be hard pressed to find a better location. It is right in the heart of downtown Savannah. Everything is literally a few blocks away. As soon as we got into town, we walked to get dinner. In the morning, I walked a couple blocks to get coffee. Everything is right there! Just remember, this isn't a brand new hotel, it's an old home. It has old home charm. Sure some things could use some updating, but this really has everything you could need. We cooked breakfast every morning, even did laundry before we checked out. Communication with Lisa was great. We noticed at check in that the shower curtain was mildewed, so I texted Lisa and a picture of it and within 15 minutes, the owner came and dropped off a new curtain and apologized for the issue. I would definitely stay here again with my family.
This property was in a great location. This was our 7th, rental of the Summer, as was definitely the most convenient to quickly access shops, dining, and take in the sites of this beautiful city.
We visited for a couple days and couldn’t be happier with our stay here. It’s nit super big, we had 4 people in our group and we were very comfortable. Anymore than 4 might get a little cramped. The location is, by far, the selling point! We were able to park and never get in our car again. Highly recommend anytime you’re staying in Savannah. Way cheaper than any hotel in similar area.
This little jewel is perfect if you are not one looking for great amenities and posh! Buy why would you even worry about that when you are in the HEART of everything. History, squares, parks, coffee shops, restaurants, and the River....all at your fingertips. Mary was a super great host with tons of great information. Definitely older and true to the Historic District feel. Not for the faint of heart but a great find for the Savannah adventurers!!!
The place is in a perfect location for walking everywhere. It was clean and had everything that we needed. The contact persons were very nice and helpful. Although it's advertised as sleeping up to 4 people (which it does), the bathroom is off the one actual bedroom, so those on the pullout sofa have to walk through the bedroom to get to it. It is much better suited for two people. Otherwise, I would recommend it for anyone wanting a nice place to stay in the heart of the historic district.
My wife and I spent 2 nights at this rental. It fit everything we were looking for. We got married in Forsyth Park many years ago. With all the wedding activities, we never really got a chance to explore the city. This rental provided the perfect location for quiet nights, yet walk-able proximity to everything we wanted to do. Great value for the price. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen were exactly what we expected. All in all, we had a great time during our visit to the city. And the apartment was a major reason for that.
This was in the perfect location and truly a “walker’s paradise”. We explored the whole city on foot from here and never needed a car. Inside was clean and comfortable, and the apartment was a great value for us budget-minded travelers. Thank you for a great stay!
Our stay was enjoyable for the most part. The apartment overall was nice, but the air conditioner right next to the bed was really loud. We were woken up early every day by the barking dogs upstairs. The upstairs tenant wasn't overly quiet either. The house was within walking distance from everything so that was super nice!
Owner Response
The upstairs occupants are the homeowners Nathan and Patti and they do have two little dogs. The dogs have appeared in other reviews but normally the owners are quiet, perhaps they had visitors during this guest stay. So glad this guest enjoyed the ideal location. Now that we removed the old carpet this apartment should please more guests than ever before!
The location of this apartment is perfect! Walking distance from the river (or a quick lyft ride away if you're in heels), in the heart of the historic district, and just the right amount of space and privacy for a quick weekend getaway! We loved our time here and being able to stay in our own little historic space while exploring Savannah's rich history made it even more special. Mary makes check-in and check-outs super easy and convenient. Would definitely recommend this space to friends and family.
It was a great location right downtown! We did have to pay for parking so check into that before-hand, but it was easy to find a spot right on the street out front.
Owner Response
Thanks for all the generous reviews for the past 2+ years. I wanted to take this opportunity to let future renters know that during the first week of May 2018 we removed the carpet and replaced it with hard surface flooring. The carpet was a major reason the apartment earned some less than stellar reviews. Even then, location was touted as prime! The new hardwood style tile freshens the place up significantly.
I write this review with consideration to other reviews previously read and based on many visits to Savannah. Some reviews of this property mentioned dogs barking. I heard dogs bark a few times early evening. None of this was bothersome at all. Savannah is a busy, bustling city and as the evening progresses the typical street noise dies down. So, I feel it is fair when visiting a city such as Savannah to review the property based on things within control of the property managers/owners etc. The location was perfect for our purpose. I travelled with three 16 year old girls celebrating SWEET 16. They love city-life, history, shopping and eating. This location offered all of that. In some reviews I read the patrons complained of a smell. There is a smell that, in my opinion, had nothing to do with mildew as previously mentioned. Having visiting Savannah for many years, for many reasons and stayed in some of these nicest Hotels, one learns, there is a price to pay for Historical Charm, and that is a slight smell. Even The Hyatt Regency has it. Walker's Paradise is an apartment that accommodates all of the necessities inside a 200 + year old house at a very fair price. Parking was far easier than dealing with valet or a parking garage blocks away. (Just use the meter on the corner) The place was clean. It is in a great location. Savannah can be noisy but this place is less noisy than most. I would definitely stay here again.
Owner Response
This is such a generous review and obviously reflective of the great time this group had in Savannah. This unit is indeed located ideally and these comments are realistic. I agree the smell is not mildew it is indeed an old house smell, some days stronger than others. The owner's dogs are two little poodles who occasionally bother guests by barking but not always.
we arrived Friday afternoon, 5:15 or so, the unit was "stuffy" at best. We turned on the AC & left for dinner. Upon return from dinner & a walk, the unit was still running, but still stuffy & muggy, so I emailed the manager. 5 minutes later (this is NOT an exaggeration), there was a knock on the door & the maintenance people (2 of them) were there. A couple of minutes later the owner arrived. The wiring problem was corrected in less than an hour-exceptional service!! While not fancy, the unit is adequate. The location was great for us.
We enjoyed our stay in the Walker's Paradise even though we were there for less than 24 hours. As there were 2 of us a second luggage stand would have been nice instead of bringing a dinning chair into the bedroom. Bed was very comfy. Paying to park on the street was pricey & getting up early to re-feed the meter in the morning isn't always what one wants when on holiday. Of course you can pay to park in their other hotel round the corner if space is available. We met the owners briefly, they were charming & helpful. We would stay again but only if we can visit much longer next time!
This apartment was great for being convenient to the tourist parts of town. It's in a nice, quiet area and really close to bars and restaurants. My husband and I did have some trouble sleeping since the air return is right by the bed and we had to use the heater. Even with waking in the night, we would stay here again. We did hear the dog that previous reviewers mentioned but it was only during the day and only one tiny bark, easy peasy. For an old building, this unit is maintained and has everything you could need for a weekend trip!
This was perfectly located for access to great walking in the historic district. The apartment was generally comfortable with a spacious living room and bedroom. Only problem in the bedroom was that the heat blasted right onto one side of the bed (and outside temps were unusually cold so we had to have heat). Kitchen and bathroom were both well equipped, and very clean. Overall, this is a great place to stay!
This property is the basement floor of a very old house located a few short blocks from the Savannah River. We were able to score between seven and ten miles of walking the two full days in Savannah. The property has a comfortable kingsize bed. Due to the location, we really did not spend much time in the apartment. Instead we enjoyed the sights and sounds of Savannah. Good food, very friendly people and a gorgeous environment made this one of the finest short vacations we've ever had. We will return to Savannah and to this property soon.
First the pros: LOCATION. You can walk to everything you need and want within minutes. It is great to be able to zip back to the apartment and take a nap in the cool on a hot summer day. It is down the street from 17hundred90, the best pub to visit in the city. You must go there if you visit Savannah. CLEAN. There was no problem with cleanliness other than the very old carpet. (I would place hardwood down and a nice rug if I were the owner) PARKING: Get a parking pass from the city and park right in front of the house. It was great. We didn't move the car. FAIRLY SPACIOUS. For three people, there was enough space. One bathroom is always hard when your family is used to having their own. It's such a private space to share, but we made it work. We ran out of towels but washed them in the washer and dryer, so no problem. KITCHEN: A fully stocked kitchen with full sized coffee maker is provided. I loved the beautiful teacups in the cupboard! Now the cons: DOGS: The number one complaint I have was the constant, incessant barking of the dogs upstairs. We brought along a white noise machine after reading the reviews from others, or we would have gotten no sleep. The dogs bark every time someone walks by the house, and in a city like Savannah, that is all night long. They are quite cute sitting up in the window spying on us, though. CLEANING SUPPLIES: Under the kitchen sink there is a dish drain with only a very used old sponge to clean the dishes. I washed a glass with a paper towel before using it. SMELL: If you have never smelled an older house, you might be shocked. When we first opened the door, it smelled like the owner from 1809 had died somewhere in there. It is an old, basement, musty, almost (rat) smell. We opened the window when we first arrived to try to air it out, but in doing so, I think we let in a few mosquitos. Once you have been in the place for a bit, you get used to the smell, but each time you go out and come back in, you smell it again. If they would replace the old worn carpet with hardwood, It might take care of the problem. All in all, you are not going to get the experience in any hotel room that you get staying in this historic old home. I would definitely stay again, that is, if they would have me back after my constructive criticism. So take some Fabreeze, a white noise machine because bark collars are cruel, and bring some extra cleaning towels.
My family and I enjoyed our stay. The property is right in the historic district and is close to everything! There is a bit of an old-house smell, but you get over it right away. I would stay in this place again.
Small, well-furnished apartment ideal for a couple to spend a few days. There were 3 of us and I had to sleep in the living room so going to the bathroom during the night was am inconvenience but we were only the 2 nights so no real hassle. This is an historic property and if, like me, you are from overseas and used to having tea, coffee, sugar etc. provided be aware in America this is not the case. I had to walk half an hour to find a supermarket to make tea in the morning. There was some coffee in the apartment if you like it black. Everything was spotless and the location was perfect for exploring the historic neighborhood. Be aware there is nowhere to sit outside. The gardens are not accessible.
Lovely apartment in a perfect location! We really enjoyed our stay here. There was some muffled yipping of a little dog that was kind of annoying a couple times, but other than that it was very quiet even though it is right on the street.
Owner Response
The owners do live upstairs in the main house with their 2 small dogs. They have a totally separate entrance but sometimes you can hear the dogs. We try hard to keep that limited to the daytime. Thank you to all of our lovely guests who enjoy their stay at this super convenient spot in downtown Savannah and leave their feedback.
The place was as advertised, great location. Parking on the street was very easy during the weekend, but the small dog upstairs barked all the time and worst of all in the middle of the night. It was obvious someone was up there so not sure why they thought they didn't have to deal with it. We were out and about most of the time so not a huge bother but don,t expect a quiet night's sleep.
The location of the unit is perfect as was the pricing for it. Parking is very easy and I never had trouble finding a spot very close by. The bed was very very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The unit was clean for the most part so I have no complaints on that. Feeling safe walking home was not a problem but I do suggest staying on the main streets. The issues: The key doesn't work the lock very well. WD-40 should help with that. The salt air has done it's part there and that happens. (I live in a coastal town as well, locks wear out quicker due to the salt air). I didn't contact the owner about it but the place smelled of mothballs heavily. I looked for them to get rid but never found them. Noise: We had a bachelor party next door in the cottage and they were loud even at 5am, screaming in the streets two of the three nights we were there (I said something after night #2). The air conditioning would drown them out and we only heard them when it would turn off though so even that wasn't that big of an issue. The issues were small and overall this was a great experience. I would stay here again.
the location of this VRBO is perfect with easy on street parking. lots of room with a big refrigerator and gas stove (kitchen could use a couple pictures on the wall and coffee filters) it has a really good bed and nice shower. we were very happy with our stay and the host was timely in her responses. thank you.
The location of the apartment was great! We were a five to ten minute walk from anywhere we wanted to go in town and that was nice....However, to pay over $500 in total for a three night stay, I found the accomodations to be a little less than impressive. I realize the building is old but the back of it looked really run down, like it was falling apart. There were holes in the walls, apparent water damage in the bathroom with brown and chipped up baseboards under the window. The apartment was mostly clean but had some cobwebs hanging in the corners and needed some attention. The power and volume buttons didn't work on the tv remote. The only buttons we got to work were the channels. All in all we enjoyed our stay but felt like for the cost of the rental it should've been a little nicer. I think (for now) it might ought to be called Walker's Convenience rather than Walker's Paradise.
Upon arriving at our destination we were a little disappointed at the outside appearance of the entire building. (A little different than the picture) In general it needs a facelift. Having said that our apartment was clean and neat and the location was perfect. We never saw the owner so there was no one to welcome us or give us any helpful information. We walked everywhere and had no problems. We were directly across the street from the police station and felt very safe. We throughly enjoyed our few days in Savannah and celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Pink House. Absolutely wonderful food. We also spent time exploring and eating at the waterfront. Savannah is a beautiful city with a lot of histroy and character.
Excellent. Loved being in the middle of the historical district. We got up every morning and ran. Lots to see and found new places to explore each day. All within running/walking distance. Very bike friendly as well. My wife said, "I love Savannah!"
We stayed at this location for 9 days and loved it. We drove down and I was a little worried about parking, but we purchased a city parking pass and never had a problem. We have been traveling to Savannah as a vacation spot for 7 years, and stayed in different areas. This spot was in the heart of things, parks, historic buildings and downtown. The unit was clean and we'll supplied with linens and whatever we needed. We'll worth a visit.
Easy walking to everywhere you want to go in Savannah! Everything was in working order. It was great being able to wash cloths half way through our trip and cook breakfast and some other meals in the apartment and then head back out into Savannah. Only con would be that the living room did get a musty smell 2 days into the trip once the cleaning solution smell wore off. I know that carpets in wetter climates tend to do that, so maybe a new flooring material, tile or hard wood for the future may help eliminate that.
This was a great location and excellent value for the money. I especially liked that it was a ground level place and was easy for us to store our bicycles inside. Also, it was very comfortable. Although it was in a popular area, we didn't hear a lot of street and outside noise. The owners were terrific -- we came back the first day and realized that the heater wasn't working and someone was there, literally, within 5 minutes, to fix it. Things that would have made it a 5 star would be an updated bathroom and kitchen -- no dishwasher in the kitchen -- but overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would go there again.
This was truly a "walker's paradise". We couldn't have asked for a better location. While most of our time was spent outdoors enjoying the food, drinks, squares, and shopping, our time spent indoors was quite enjoyable. Although the house could use a few updates (mouldings, vents, etc...), it was quite comfortable. The king bed was plush and super comfy, couch was great, and the shower was nice. The kitchen, while smaller, was more than accommodating, although we barely used it. It was perfect for the price. There are a number of places close-by to grab a bite (pizza at screaming Mimi's, Thai food at PJs), coffee, beer, sandwiches, and groceries (Parker's was just up the street), or take in some history with the cemetary right across the street and St John the Baptist (must see) church just a few blocks away. This is our 7th trip to Savannah and we always use VRBO!
The Walker's Paradise was the perfect vacation rental for our weekend get-away to Savannah, GA. The place was plenty big enough for the two of us, parking was readily available on the adjacent streets (although metered, parking is FREE on weekends), and it was less than a 10-minute walk to anywhere in the historic district. Most notably, the owner was so nice and willing to answer any questions. This rental is highly recommended!
Like most other reviews noted, this is an older house but that wasn't a major issue. The accommodations were perfect for what I was looking for and I would consider staying there again if I ever go back to Savannah. If you bring your car and park it, be sure to keep an eye on the street sweeping schedule. Great place to stay for enjoying the Historic Downtown area, everything is in walking distance.
this was an awesome little cottage. we had 5 ladies in our party and took a twin blow up and there was plenty of room for us all. the only one thing we found was we think you need to add to chairs for the table. the rooms were all much larger than we thought and the bathroom was very roomy. the location was great to get out and walk to the parks and around to see the houses. we parked at front door but did move our car to see more of the city. if you have not been before, get a city map and figure out where you are going before you set out. the streets are a little confusing but the city if so beautiful. would love to go back and see more history. take the trollies tours to really see it all. will definitely go back some time. it is a walkers paradise so be prepared to do a lot of walking to see a lot of the city!!
Owner Response
We are very happy to get such a generous review! For future guests' reference, 4 adults is the maximum legal occupancy for this unit per a city ordinance for vacation rentals. This is most comfortable for a party of 2 adults.
The name is correct! We parked upon arrival and didn't even think of getting in the car all weekend. The property is within walking distance of the 'touristy' river district, but far enough away from the riff-raff. We discovered lots of great places a short walk away on Broughton Street - the Coffee Fox is a must for your morning joe. Lots of great bars and restaurants just a skip away, like 17hundred90. Very friendly staff and cozy decor. The property was very clean and ready for our arrival. Mary responded quickly. The only downside was a noisy AC unit, but we were just happy to have AC in the summer! If that's the only downside to a 100 year old space, the owner's are doing a great job. My wife and I will most certainly be back to Savannah, and this property tops our list for a return visit! A gem!
As soon as we pulled up in front of the apartment, we knew we would love it. I'm a real estate agent, and we love to use the phrase, "location, location, location". This place is in the ideal location. It is convenient to everything. And the police station is right across the street!! My husband and I parked our car (thanks to the parking pass we got from the owner of the home. She runs the 17Hundred90 Inn) and only moved it to drive to Tybee Island. Everything else we wanted to do was in walking distance. Restaurants, bars. shops, a park, and River Street! The entire neighborhood is a "walker's paradise". The mature landscape and the beautiful scenery is like something out of a movie!! We have already decided that the next time we come down to Savannah, we are booking this place (if its available). I'd like potential renters to keep in mind that this apartment is a part of a house that's over 100 years old. So be prepared for its "charm" and "character". But with that being said, it served its purpose!! Mary was on point with replying to all of my texts. She's very attentive, and if you have any questions, she responds right back. The only thing I would like to suggest is a TV in the bedroom.
The location is on a beautiful street and easy walking distance to Broad or Bay Street or even Forsyth Park. The accommodations were just as pictured, historic but clean. The streets were much quieter at night than you'd get closer to the river and parking was always available right outside the door. We were both very happy with the rental (our first VRBO) and the only complaint was not at all the property owners' fault: the street outside smelled like urine (which is odd because we never saw any transients or even animals) so it must've just been one drunk guy right before we got there!
For those who have no car, or want to save on gas, this little apartment is a dream for sightseeing. Right in the heart of Historic Downtown Savannah, it's no more than a few minutes walk to many of the local attractions. River Street, with all kinds of shops and restaurants, is no more than a ten minute walk away from the apartment. One thing we noticed, but weren't bothered by, was with the police station being right across the street, and the fire station being just down the road, you hear sirens quite often. All in all, this is a wonderful place to stay And the next time we come down, we will be looking to see if there is an opening here!
My husband and I stayed at this lovely Oglethorpe Walkabout apartment the week after July 4. It was a cool refuge in midst of severe heat. It was really nice to be able to stay within walking distance of anything we wanted to see in the historic district and we walked almost everywhere. We drove to Tybee Island and returned to a lovely quiet apartment that had all we needed. It was so much better than staying at a chain hotel. This is a remodeled apartment in the basement of an historic home just across from the Colonial Cemetary and the police department. It's located in front of the Columbia Square, very nice. Also the 1790 Restaurant is just behind the home. The remodeling was lacking in some finishings, in our opinions, but the king size bed was very comfy, the bathroom was a good size. Some of the furnishings could have been updated, such as the sofa as it was very uncomfortable. Yes, it's an old house so you expect quirks such as uneven floors, etc, but we still felt they could have done some finishings to the doorways and cabinets, as they were remodeling, that would have been nicer and not really added to the cost. The AC was very loud when it kicked on and I would recommend some kind of fan located in the living area for circulation of the AC. Overall, I give this apartment a 4 star and would definitely stay again. Mary was our contact person and she was so nice with any questions I had and texting information regarding parking, etc. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
Great place, bed was comphy! Kitchen was well stocked, everything looked clean. The carpets had some issues from the door to the laundry room, they were working in the dryer so that may explain that. The air worked but was loud. We had an issue one day with water, that was quickly fixed. I would stay again.
I was in Savannah for 4 nights with my two teenage children while my other teen was at SCAD's summer seminar and this rental was perfect! The manager corresponded with me almost immediately on any questions I had prior and getting in and getting our parking pass for street parking, which we did from 17hundred90 was easy and parking was almost always right out front! You can walk everywhere from this house and we did! It was great to be able to tour, come back rest, eat or snack and go back out! Getting to Tybee Island for a day was also super easy and convenient! It was everything we needed and made our stay wonderfully simple! Loved the history of the area and house... So much better than a chain hotel when you are in a history rich city like Savannah!!! :)
We only stayed here for one night, but it was perfect! It was just a quick walk down to the water and had quite a few restaurants and bars nearby. We were able to find a parking space really close. The space is cozy and has all the essentials you would need for a one night stay or a week stay. I would definitely consider staying here again!
This is the perfect place if you love to walk. It seemed like, wherever we wanted to go, all we had to do is open the door and turn left. It took maybe 5 minutes to get to the farthest stretches of River Street. Quite conveniently located to a multitude of local coffee shops (I particularly enjoyed Gourmet Espresso on Bull Street). The apartment was a little bigger than I was expecting (which is not a complaint). I was a big fan of the whole key lock box setup. Definitely the best way to not worry about losing your keys on an adventure.. simply lock them up when you leave and retrieve them when you get back.
The garden apartment is the bottom floor of a three-story building with the owners living above. We had problem immediately upon arrival. The owners were there to fix this problem within minutes of a text informing them of it. They also own the 17hundred90 restaurant and hotel. We had a bowl of soup and a biscuit there one evening-the biscuit was so light, I had trouble keeping it on my plate, the soup-heavenly! The apartment had a musty/moldy smell coming from the kitchen. I got used to it but my daughter who has asthma did not. The king-sized bed was comfortable.
Owner Response
The door between the kitchen and the laundry/utility room should stay closed, since the laundry room is not climate controlled. I am sure that this guest had that door open and that is why her daughter thought the kitchen smelled funny. I would not call it a musty smell but it's kind of stuffy smelling in the warm weather, as the room is an enclosed area under the outdoor stairs leading to the front door of the main house. The owner said we should keep the laundry room door shut just for energy efficiency. This home is one of the oldest ones in Savannah and considering that it smells pretty great most of the time.
Mary was great and answered all our questions. We parked at the property and then we never moved our vehicle. We either walked every where or rode the old town trolley. There was a stop a couple of blocks away. We were right across from the police station and felt totally safe---even at night! And oh yeah...the bed was awesome!!! We loved Savannah. Can't wait to go back.
We just left Savannah this morning and we are already missing it! This is partially due to the wonderful stay in this apartment. It was very comfortable and clean with a super comfortable king bed! It was situated within walking distance to almost everything in the historic district. The kitchen had all the appliances you could need but we ate out all the time. We always found a parking space right outside the door. Just a little heads up about the location of the bathroom which is off the bedroom. It served us as a couple very well but if you were 2 couples sharing this apartment, we think it might be a little awkward. We don't think this would pose a problem for a family of 4. We would recommend this rental to any of our friends! Oh, and the rental agent was super fast with all communication, from inquiry to check out. Sweet transaction! Another vacation spot checked off our bucket list!
This cozy walk-in apartment is in a terrific part of the city, and walkable to everywhere one would hope to see. The owners/agency were pleasant and very responsive to any questions we had; helpful instruction manual was on hand, and the suite was clean and well designed. Located across the street from the police station, and on a regular path for carriage rides allowed us to feel safe and imagine ourselves back by a century. Savannah is a wonderful city, rich in history, offering a broad variety of activities at low and no cost, and easy to navigate by foot. A day trip to Tybee Island capped off our stay and Renee, the boat captain/guide, gave us an outstanding boat tour of the Georgia coast, salt marshes, migrating birds, an eagle's nest, private beach and concluded with dolphins who swam with us as we headed to shore. We highly recommend this ground level apartment and the 17Hundred90 restaurant nearby. One can't help but fall in love with this Lovely Southern City!!!
This was my first visit to Savannah. The cost of this lovely apartment was a better deal than the best hotel in the city. Located in the mist of the historic district, it was within walking distance to all the attractions for sightseers. The bedroom/bathroom furnishings were superb. We were awaken with the clip-clop of the horse carriages, which enforced the history of Savannah and the laid back culture we were experiencing. Umbrellas are provided to guest and I highly recommend taking one with you if you know there is a chance of rain. The room was provided with tour books. I wish there was information for grocery or drug stores in the area. I highly recommend staying here if you want to feel like a Savannah resident or experience a very romantic getaway. It is a very family friendly neighborhood.
Owner Response
Thanks for a great review. The grocery store & drugstore information is normally in the notebook in the living room (Kroger is half a mile away with full grocery and pharmacy + CVS is a quarter mile away). Sometimes people remove the binder pages for reference and forget to return them. If any future guests have questions about things like that and can't find the info in the apartment they are welcome to call me! My cell phone number is in the notebook too. This apartment is in the center of town and just about anything one could need is less than a mile away. -Mary
My daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed in this lovely apartment for 2 nights. recently, and we were delighted with the accommodations. The bed was super soft and comfortable, the pillows were like a cloud, and the towels were amazingly soft and cuddly. The location was within walking distance of everything. We walked everywhere, and only used our car one time, to go to an event at the Civic Center. The furnishings were beautiful, and the entire apartment was absolutely clean and inviting. We would definitely stay there again.
Owner Response
Thanks for such a generous review! For future guests' reference, one could still walk to the Civic Center from here if desired. It is exactly 0.5 miles from this apartment, a straight shot down Oglethorpe Avenue. But it's also easy to drive there and if anyone who stays during weekdays gets the Visitors Parking Day Pass that little paper goes in your dashboard and it does cover the meters outside this apartment along with all other meters downtown. That means you can drive around all over and park at any metered spot you find! And all meters are free on weekends in Savannah. -Mary
The cost of renting this cozy, inviting apartment was equal to that of a basic hotel way out at the mall. It's an ideal "home base" for walking around Savannah! The apartment looks just like the photos and was very clean. Perfect for a couple or a group of three. There is a little bit of street/pedestrian noise since it is on a corner. But hearing the clip-clop of the carriage horses go by was actually nice. The property agent was a dream to work with, too. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to explore the city without a car. But parking was not too difficult on the street.
We had a very enjoyable 4-night stay and found that most everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. On street parking was never a problem (we did purchase a parking permit) and it was nice to know the police department was across the street from the square. The king size bed was very comfortable and the apartment had all the kitchen items we needed. While we brought shampoo and soap we found that this was provided as well. The owners were so kind and filled with good humor. We will definitely be returning to Savannah in the near future!
Quaint apartment in the historic area of Savannah. It was clean and comfortable. There was not a balcony or patio for outside relaxing but it was close to many parks, transportation, and eateries. The owners were very helpful and was available to answer any questions. There is only one television in the apartment located in the living room. It was not convenient for bedroom watching.
centrally located
Perfect location for walking around.

Vintage Charm
The area was perfect, close walk to town. Mary responded very fast if I had questions. The apartment was decorated in a old vintage charm that fits to Savannah and there history. The apartment had everything you needed for a weekend in Savannah.
Coming back to stay here again
Great place to stay and fabulous location. Most things you want to see are within walking distance and really going down town was less than a mile. Quiet neighborhood and historic house makes you appreciate history! Coming back and staying here again soon!
Terrific Location!
Terrific location! As a parent of a SCAD student, Mary's place is conveniently located nearest the dorms. Located on a charming street, plenty of restaurants are only a short walk away!
