Great location
Loved our stay here. Great location and very comfortable.
Amazing place for our beach trip
This was a trip planned for me, my daughter, daughter in law and her mother, along with two grandbabies. We had a wonderful time and it wouldn't have been the same without this amazing place. Everything was so close and convenient and we had so much space for everyone. We will definitely do this again and I highly recommend this space for just about any group, everything was wonderful, they thought of everything!!!!
Loved our stay
We really enjoyed our stay! Loved the decor, kitchen was my favorite. There some close and yummy spots for food. We were not far at all from the main shops yet out of the hectic tourist area. Would definitely stay again!Thank you.
Loved my stay at this property. Close enough to be in the action in minutes and far enough to feel like a quiet neighborhood at night. Property was clean and nice. Both bedrooms were huge but comfortable. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We loved the front porch and comfy beds but there is another property upstairs and if you are sensitive to noise, it might not be right for you. Because it is an old house, the noise carries everywhere! Good location and easy to find street parking. Also it was nice they had a baby pack and play available on request
Our stay was all it was described to be and more. The unit was very clean and spacious. The bed and bedding was exceptionally soft and comfortable. The location was walking distance to many areas of interest. Loved the front porch seating as well as the side porch and back yard grilling area. Will definitely be back!!!
This rental is situated on a quiet street in Savannah and absolutely perfect for anyone. My sister and I stayed for an extended weekend to explore Savannah. This rental is spacious and VERY clean. All the comforts of home in the rental and super convenient to everything Savannah has to offer. Mary made the rental process super easy and answered any inquire immediately. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to experience Savannah. We will be back.
We had a lovely stay at this location in Savannah. Most importantly, the beds were super cozy! And I loved that they provided sound machines. I slept through breakfast each day! The location is very close to Forsyth and Clary's where we often ate. The Kroger around the corner was so nice. I would love to live in Savannah in a home like this!
This property was exactly as described. The apartment is located on the 1st floor, which was perfect for sitting on the front porch and talking or resting at the end of the day. Very nice apartment and super clean. The owner and her assistant were very accommodating and available to discuss any questions that might arise. I gave it 4 stars on neighborhood because the shrubs out front needed to be trimed down a little as the view was partially obstructed. Also I would have enjoyed seeing a little more maintenance to the yard out front at curbside, ie, grass or flowers. You would not regret staying at this wonderful place. Free parking. Free trolley to Riverfront. Grocery Store one block away. Quaint cafe on the corner. Beautiful park in walking distance. I woul absolutely without question rent this 1st floor apartment again.
This house was perfect for our "girls weekend" in Savannah! Beautiful house with lots of charm. Comfy beds and great outdoor places to visit with friends. Overall, the group wants to come back to Savannah and will only stay here next time!
This place was very well kept in a wonderful location. It is located a few blocks away from Forsyth Park, an iconic symbol of the beautiful city. The home is only a 4 minute walk from a Krogers grocery store. We went over there to pick up some fresh produce and steaks and utilized the backyard patio and grill. I also purchased a couple of duralogs at the Krogers and we had a little fire in the outdoor fireplace that was located off the patio. The kitchen was in working order and had everything we needed, we chose to eat breakfast at the house most of the mornings. There were plenty of linens and the beds were very comfortable. The Internet was a little wonky but I wouldn't say it was a deal breaker. When it didn't respond well I simply used my data on my phone. The front porch was very lovely with the sweet smell of honeysuckle and a persimmon tree on the front corner of the porch. The tree attracted various birds that enjoyed the fruit from the tree. One of the things we enjoyed was the fact that Savannah has a noise ordinance that goes into effect at 9:00pm. It seemed very charming to be able to sit on the porch swing with a glass of wine and reflect on our day, and also ponder what would we would do tomorrow. Though there is a noise ordinance, ironically there are freight trains that roll through the cities at night and blow the whistle at each crossing. We noticed that it went off a few times in the distance while we were sleeping. Be aware also that the streets in the neighborhood are swept once a week so you are required to move your vehicle. If you don't move your vehicle you will be ticketed. However, it was not hard to find a parking spot in front of the house and parking is free. I rate this place 5 stars, we had a great stay!
This was a little outside the historic district but walkable to Forsythe Park. It's a large property but I felt it was a little overpriced for two bedrooms and one full bathroom with a shower at $300 per night after the cleaning fee/taxes etc. We'd stay somewhere else next time as a result. The kitchen was very nice and very well equipped.
Owner Response
We are very aware that the VRBO customer is cost conscious and looking for a great deal. We price the property accordingly and strive to provide a great value. A single hotel room 2 blocks away is over $300 before the 13% taxes. This rental home is easily 4 times the size of a nice hotel room and has a fully equipped kitchen to save additional money preparing one's own meals when desired. We know that guests spend a lot of time scrolling over the choices and value is a top reason any particular home is chosen. Each bedroom has a great King size bed and its own TV. The living room has a third TV and pullout sofa. We have one full bathroom and one additional half bathroom which is also a huge benefit over a hotel room where your group shares a single bathroom. Regarding the historic district location, this is a one square mile area with a technical definition. We are one block within the boundary of this historic designation, not outside it. Visitors often seem to guess at what they imagine is the "historic district" assuming incorrectly that it is connected to the nightlife bar strip. For future travelers' reference the delineation of the Historic District is Gwinnett Street on the southern border. This home is on Hall Street. We look forward to providing future guests with a spacious and comfortable setting in our beautiful city.
We were very happy with this charming rental. Super close to Forsyth Park, loved the Mate Factor coffee shop on the street. Beautiful neighborhood that provided quiet evenings and mornings to sit on the front porch and back courtyard. Close to Kroger for groceries. Comfortable beds, all the necessities provided, lots of room in the bathroom. Highly recommend this beautiful home
Four of us (2 couples in our 60s and 70s) spent four nights in this spacious apartment. Two large bedrooms both with doors to a side verandah that led to the backyard sitting area had very comfortable king size beds with soft linens, blankets and plump pillows. Plenty of closet and drawer space. The master bath was spacious with two sinks and the half bath made it convenient for four people. The living room/ dining room combination was also a comfortable space for four people and the kitchen had everything we needed. The front porch was another area we enjoyed having conversations or just sitting and relaxing. And then there is the perfect location. Although we had a car, this location made it possible for us to walk everywhere we wanted to go. You can’t go wrong staying in this apartment.
We loved staying here. Great location, plenty of room and fantastic outdoor areas. The only reason I did not give 5 stars, is because the the TV in living space was not working and the thermostat didn't seem to respond to trying to increase the temperature. It wasn't until our last day I notified them as we didn't miss the TV and it was our last night there when it got cold. I am confidant it would have been fixed if it was something bothering us. Over all, it was very nice and I would stay here again.
We absolutely loved this property!! It is certainly everything they said and more. The home was immaculate, the linens were luxurious, and although we didn't use the kitchen to cook, it was also well appointed. Mary, the owner was quick to answer my texts about rental key etc and there was a notebook with all the information you needed. I can't say enough about the location -- it is really centrally located to everything, and if it weren't for the fact that we are seniors, you could walk just about everywhere. There was a liquor store on one corner, a supermarket down a half a block and a cute little coffee shop at another corner, We will definitely be back to Savannah, and hope this rental will be available. Great value!!
The house is proprotioned perfectly with the bedrooms separated away from the kitchen/living area. The front and side porch will make you want to move in. The home and stay were perfect in every way. This was my second time stay at Mary’s property and I look forward to many more
We love comog to Savannah and do so often including a group trip at Christmas. What a fabulous town! This place was as advertised and uses a 3rd party to manage it so you will not be able to get in touch with the owners directly to get tips and tricks. Not a huge deal but I find it does give a warmer feel when the owner leaves you a note or suggestions especially in a big old house. We rented the ground floor unit and the carriage house out back so had full use of the courtyard and fantastic fireplace though no fireplace utensils are included so we had to use a long stick. Not sure how this would play out if someone else was staying in either unit as you would then be sharing. My biggest gripe of this place is that I felt paying a large cleaning fee should have included well, cleaning. Instead you get a laundry list of all the things not included in your cleaning fee including dishes. Not a huge deal for us but it just felt a but excessive. Overall, it was a great house and we would stay there again. It does have great outdoor spaces and wonderful for a group.
Owner Response
It is true that I manage this home for the owner, but I am a local resident too and the owners do live in town. We do not write personal notes for each guest as this is a very busy rental almost like a hotel room so we include a page of recommended restaurants, museums and tours in the home info notebook which many guests enjoy. The notebook has my personal cell phone number in it. Our housekeeper's fee goes straight to a woman who takes great pride in keeping this home sparkling clean for guests. We only ask guests to wash their own dishes and take out any trash if they have more than 1 bag. That is actually all we ask and we are sorry if that seemed like too much for this group. We have this "procedure" to keep the maid's scope of work standardized so that her fee does not need to vary based on how messy the guest was. Some guests cook a lot and others do not. Some guests produce tons of trash (like if they have lots of takeout food or open gifts in the home) and others do not. Leaving a sink full of dirty dishes and tons of trash inside is not something that most guests expect they should be able to do but we apologize if that was a surprise for this person. We even specify that we welcome guests to leave the dishes running in the dishwasher for the maid to put away. We believe the fair thing to do is charge each booking for the true cost of the maid's time to vacuum, mop, dust, launder the sheets and towels and sanitize the bathrooms since those items are a requirement for every guest regardless of their cooking or other habits. Unlike many vacation rentals we do not require the beds to be stripped or the towels to be washed. We also do not charge a cleaning fee that is more than what the cleaner receives. We assure guests that the maid works very hard for this payment. She has to keep her schedule open to drive to this house after every checkout based on the random booking schedule which changes every week, and she earns every penny of the fee. It may be hard to imagine the extensive cleaning work that goes into preparation for each reservation since it is so clean on arrival. We thank future guests in advance for their cooperation and understanding. -Mary
Property was a lot bigger then expected! First time staying in Savannah and we will definitely be back. House is located in walking distance to everything. Grocery store was right around the corner. The property itself had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Beds were comfortable and house was clean. Sitting on the swing on the front porch was very relaxing. Only concern for some might be how loud it could be, walls were thin and could hear other renters when they were on their porches. At nighttime it was quiet though so not a problem for me. Overall loved our stay!
From the entry vestibule, I could tell I was going to fall in love with this home...and I did! This home is BEAUTIFUL with high ceilings and long windows. All of the sitting areas were comfortable to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. My sisters and I enjoyed both porches, usually for breakfast on the back porch and long evenings on the front porch (albeit with a glass of wine). The beds and bedrooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. I did have a few guests in my room--chimney swift birds that nested in the bedroom chimney. They kept me company most nights and early mornings with their chirping. Initially, I thought something may have been wrong and the owner was very responsive to come by to check on them (and rescue if necessary). But once she assured me all was good, I just put in my ear plugs (which I always sleep with anyway because I'm a light sleeper) and we enjoyed the night together. Also, the location of the home is perfect. On the corner is the CUTEST little coffee and sandwich shop I've ever seen. Right across the street from that is a large grocery store. A few blocks down and you're right at Forsyth Park where we caught the bus/trolley to go downtown. We were only in Savannah for a long weekend but I feel in love with the city...and this home was a large part of the romance.
My friend and I stayed at this quaint rental over a long weekend. The location was great for getting around the city. The porch was nice to relax on with a beverage while discussing the days activities. The unit is great for 2-4 people if you don't mind sharing the bathroom. The bathroom itself is roomy and plenty of towels and supplies were provided. Getting into the unit was a breeze. Would definitely stay there again,
Our stay in Savannah was great! The house was beautiful and perfect for our family of 5. The location was great and we loved the porch and porch swing. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again someday soon.
Went to Savannah not knowing anything...But oh being at this wonderful place we called home...Well its location is perfect for us walkers especially...Oh blocks from being in the middle of what Savannah is..The parks , the squares..eateries ...And after all of that a wonderful place to just hang.. and then rest in those heavenly beds..Was tremendous.. Oh does it sound like we will be back.. of course..right here..thanks Mary..Did you find our Maagnets One was a Volkswagen Bus
I enjoyed my stay very much except for the bats in the fireplace at night other than that I really enjoyed my stay when I'm in Savannah again I would love to stay there again.
Owner Response
We had a chimney swift family in the fireplace over the summer. They are not bats. They are tiny birds which are a protected species. It is illegal to kill them. They eat millions of mosquitos so they are a very positive species that is part of our local natural wildlife. Their habitat which used to be dead hollow tree trunks is all but wiped out so in order to find the necessary tall hollow structure to nest they use chimneys. Their fluttering wings and soft purr-like chirping can be heard when they feed their babies. They do not come inside homes, and they do not bother anyone. They vacate the chimney once their babies mature and they leave Savannah altogether when they fly much further south for the winter.
What a great time my cousins, aunt and I had at this nice apartment! Plenty of room, great courtyard and porches to sit and visit. It had been a long time since we had this kind of opportunity, and we found the perfect place to reconnect. The kitchen was complete, the beds were comfortable. We all decided we could enjoy this place again, sometime! Thank you!
The house was very charming in historical Savannah. The beds were fabulous, the kitchen was well stocked with supplies,The dining table seated six, the half bath was very nice, the full bath had two pedestal sinks which was an excellent idea, the seating on the porch was very pleasant. The only thing I felt that was missing was one additional upholster chair for the living room, it only had one couch and one chair. My three sisters and myself were very very pleased with our experience. A very charming restaurant was straight down the street on the corner with fabulous breakfast and luncheon foods. Kroger‘s was within walking distance which was a nice benefit. There was nothing lacking in this rental property. We also rode the DOT every single day to get around the city. That was very convenient!
My family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we definitely made use of the porches during our stay in Savannah. The house had everything we needed, and it was nice to have a Kroger just down the street. The beds were comfy and the home had plenty of room for the four of us.
Well equiped, comfortable beds, nice location (quiet street) close to our favorite coffee shop and grocery store. We rated this a 3 because of tenants above this rental. It was constant running from a 3 year old in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
We loved the location! You are a quick walk to Forsyth Park with a Kroger and coffee shop steps away. The DOT (free tourist bus) can pick you up next to Forsyth Park and takes you around the whole city. Google maps is a bit off on the location. Big plus was sound machines in the bedrooms! Only real negative is that it is an apartment so you can hear upstairs neighbors. Overall though, quieter than a hotel IMO. Would book again if we found ourselves traveling to Savannah.
We used this home for a family visit over Christmas and it was all we could have hope for. Spacious and all the comforts of home. We ate out each day but having the kitchen made it easy to relax with coffee and breakfast while we planned each day. We had plenty of space and were able to have everyone together for Christmas ham dinner and didn’t have to worry about anyplace being open on the holiday. An easy walk down to Forsyth’s Park, Kroger and the Poseidon Spa at the Mansion at Forsythe gave us lots of activity and relaxation. This location was excellent. The home had everything we needed. Our only major concern was the toilet in the half bath. It was temperamental and plugged easily but once we figured that out, just made sure we were careful. We were provided with 5 bath towels which was the number of us that stayed but given that we were there for a week, it would have been nice to have another set to use. Trash cans in the alley were not marked with the number of this house, so it was confusing as to which to use for our trash and recycling. We simply put our trash where there was room. These concerns did nothing to detract from our enjoyment of the home or the visit to Savannah. Beds, and even the sofa bed, were comfortable and the rooms were large. We enjoyed the front porch and the courtyard as the weather was pretty moderate while we there. Will definitely look to stay here again.
Our property manager was very prompt when we needed some things the cleaning person forgot. A lovely quiet neighborhood with a lovely bakery on the corner, and grocer around the corner, and beautiful Forsyth Park for the farmer's market, and a great health food market. The home was a bit dark for my taste with limited window exterior viewing, but this is something I'm very used to at home. Shouldn't be a deterrent if you are always out and about exploring all the history this city has to offer.
This is a lovely lower level half of a home in Savannah’s Historic District. True to the description it has a large porch with very nice seating and a swing. While we were there in early October, the temperatures were in the upper 80s to low 90s with extremely high humidity so sitting on the porch was not desirable. The back courtyard was also very nice but again, the heat and humidity kept us inside. The home is very clean and the kitchen is equipped with dishes, cooking utensils, and what you would need for simple meals. Within about 2 short blocks is a Kroger’s super market and within half a block is a very nice bakery/coffee shop. We used the space as our base while we were vacationing and touring Historic Savannah. The street does not require parking vouchers but do be aware of the street sweeping schedule as posted. On our day of arrival we had been up since 4:00 am to catch our first flight of the day and somehow missed the sign about the sweeping that night...we had a $25 fine to pay for that mistake. Anyone renting this property should be aware the very nice owners do have small children who can be heard running around on the upper level from about 8:00 am until about 7:30 to 8:00 pm with occasional thumps, bumps and bangs. They are just doing normal toddler activities, however is you are considering renting this space, you should be aware. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Historic Savannah and and found being in a convenient neighborhood preferable to a hotel. We did most of the usual tourist type of tours as well as walking about on our own. The Bonaventure Cemetery tour was excellent and not to be missed.
Absolutely loved this place. Location is perfect. You can walk to the "kool" Krogers (as described by a local) and just 5 min to Forsyth. Go south and eat at the Vault. I loved living here for 10 days!
We stayed the weekend at this beautiful spacious apartment this past weekend with our two teenage girls and had a wonderful time. Bedrooms were much larger than expected and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Both rooms led out to a nice quiet porch on private side of home. Kitchen has all your necessities and more. The location was perfect! Grocery store was a few blocks away and a wonderful bakery and coffee cafe steps away. Downtown shopping, restaurants, and river were about 20 minute walk away or 5 minute car ride. Some of the parks were within a 5-10 minute walk. Will certainly stay here again if we are able to revisit Savannah.
We enjoyed our stay here! It was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Nicely furnished with a well stocked kitchen. Parking was very easy. We always found a space in front of the house. The coffee shop on the corner was a nice bonus!
Let me start by saying that we rented the house because we had 4 different people coming from three different states to attend a graduation. I beat my parents there by a few hours so went ahead and did some grocery shopping. Pets are not allowed in the house so my (graduating) daughter, who lives 15 minutes away happily volunteered to take the dog for the weekend. My mom got to the house while we were en route from the grocery store and began bringing her clothes inside. Her (hypoallergenic) dog was following her in and out of the door. Before I could even get out of my car, the rental property people were calling me, literally yelling at me, about there being a dog in the house. I explained to her that the dog was going to my daughters and it was just timing that my mom got there before I got back. She then commented about having experiences with people 'supposedly' taking their pets elsewhere but not really doing it. (So, in short, she was calling me a liar). **I also opened my email later that night and found an email equal to that of the phone call noting that "if they allowed me to stay..." Needless to say, I was in shock over the call and I walked in and simply told my mom that we needed to go ahead and take the dog to my daughters. As a person who suffers from allergies myself, I totally understand the impact of having a pet around so I don't blame them for inquiring--but yelling at me on the phone?? REALLY? How about saying, "Hi Bonnie, I am not sure if it was communicated properly, but I was told that there was a dog on the property - is this correct?" The property managers need a lesson in customer etiquette. The next morning we all got up and made breakfast. Aside from the bathroom having drain flies, my mother spent an hour cleaning the oven because it literally looked like a BBQ grill. We were disgusted. Let me also add that the front windows are the traditional French door types and we opened the curtains to enjoy the warm weather. The owners of the house (I assume) who LIVE UPSTAIRS (and have their own porch) came down to our front porch, met with friends and sat on the swing while they allowed their children to stand at the windows and stare at us. We all looked at each other like, "Are they really just letting him sit there and stare at us?" In short, the house was in a good location/adequate but not worth the hassle of 'Big Brother' watching your every move. Will never rent from Savannah Luxury Rentals again
Owner Response
Future guests, if you see the long history of great reviews at this property you may notice none of them complain about any similar "issues". This guest was very annoyed that we enforced our no pet rule. My phone call to her did not involve yelling. I was polite but firm. It is one of the hardest parts of my job handling situations when a guest blatantly violates one of our clearly published rental rules. Thankfully the majority of our guests are extremely respectful of all policies so this does not come up often for me despite a high volume of customers. The owners no longer live on site, but I do thank this guest for making it known we enforce the rules. I am saddened that she chose to give a poor review about such a lovely rental unit as retaliation about this. Mary
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Porch Lover'a Dream. The unit itself was beautifully cared for. We loved the porches and have never slept so well when away from home! The location is great. We enjoyed Mate Factor a few doors down to start our days. Easy walking distance to bus stops or anywhere in the historical area... including the river. We enjoyed ending our days on the front porch! I would definitely stay here again.
What a wonderful stay. The accommodations were great. We were close to the grocery store, Forsyth Park and an awesome coffee shop. A bit of a walk to the River but that was part of our plan. The home was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The beds were so comfortable and we loved the front porch and back courtyard. We really hope to make it back! Thanks for a wonderful easy trip.
My husband, stepdaughter and I stayed here during our 5 day jaunt in Savannah during which we got married! It was the perfect place to get dressed for the literal best day ever. Even the weather agreed- 75 degrees, no humidity and only puffy clouds! The location is a bit far if you plan on walking everywhere but for us it was ideal- parking galore, Forsyth Park only a couple blocks away, and the coffee shop on the corner was a perfect haven at 7 am on our wedding day, only 4 doors down. The house itself was so comfortable, really felt like home. The two king sized beds were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen/dining/living room had so much character. We have some incredible pictures taken on that gorgeous front porch, the French doors made great backdrops. My only complaint is that we didn't get to enjoy the back courtyard more during our stay. I can't imagine a better place to start my wedding day, and the perfect days before and after.
The house was warm and charming and had enough room for my husband and I and 4 teenagers. We loved drinking coffee from the corner coffee shop on the front porch every morning and sitting by the fire on the back patio every night. It is within walking distance to everything and the neighbors are very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
This home overall was a great place to stay. The neighborhood was quiet and there is a coffee shop at the end of the street. The front porch was very relaxing! My only regret about staying here is that it is a long walk to river street which is where we like to spend a lot of time in Savannah. We used Uber a lot so that we didn't have to walk so much.
Staying at the porch lovers dream was perfect. Convenient, spacious, clean and enjoyable. My mother in law loved the porch swing! This was our first time to Savannah and memories have been made. Thanks!
This was our first time here and my traveling companion was a bit critical and underwhelmed when we arrived Saturday evening. Overall, our accommodations were very clean, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen was modern and very well stocked, there were plenty of towels and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were very close to Kroger and that was very convenient. That's the only place she was willing to walk to so I have no idea how close we were to anything else in the area. The only thing I noticed was the drain in the bathtub was so slow when we showered the water came up to the bottom of the shower curtain and it seemed to take forever to drain. I would also suggest providing a non slip mat for the bathtub. We are both over 55 and we had to be very cautious about slipping in the tub especially with the accumulation of water due to the slow drain. Other than that I enjoyed my stay very much.
This was the 4th time we have stayed in Savannah and out first stay at this house. This was by far the best house we have stayed in!! The location is perfect, the house beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. We loved the front and side porch! We had plenty of towels and supplies and the convenience to Kroger was great. We were only 2 blocks from Forsyth Park and we walked there every morning. Even the local neighbors were great and very welcoming! The owners live upstairs and they were very nice and friendly. We will definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to head to Savannah and we will be coming back next year as well! Best vacation so far!
I stayed at the Porch Lovers Dream for 4 nights on a "girl's trip" to Charleston and Savannah . One of the best things about the house was how quiet it was. We had no problems with noisy neighbors or street noise which is very important to me, especially at night for sleeping. Having the cafe just a few doors down for getting my morning latte and wonderful baked goods was a real plus. The location was perfect for us since we had a car and could explore the whole city easily. We had no problems getting a parking spot on the street and the market was super convenient and large. All in all, this a great property at a great price.
I can't say anything bad about this rental. The location was perfect, near the grocery store and Forsyth Park and close to shuttle stops. Getting out and walking around day or night was just perfect. The rental itself was just gorgeous. The beds were comfortable, it was very clean and had everything you would need for a long term or short stay. The porches and the patio in back are an added bonus, just perfect spots to sit and relax after a day of sightseeing or to have your morning coffee. We parked the car when we got there and didn't need to use it again until we left!
We spent two weeks on Hall street. It had everything in terms of services: close grocery store, bakery, the Legion bar, and the park. We are walkers, and the downtown area was close enough. Beds were very comfortable. Areas of improvement: more reading lights in the living room, and a stronger internet signal. We really enjoyed our stay, and after two weeks feel that we have a better knowledge of Savannah life.
We absolutely loved this home. There was plenty of room and the beds were comfy. The two porches were very relaxing with plenty of seating for the family. This home is conviently located in walking distance to a Kroger (1 block away), a delicious bakery/coffee shop (few doors down), and Forsyth Park (3 blocks down). We walked around a lot and felt safe at all times day and night in this area. The home is perfect for family and we look forward to returning in the future.
The house is lovely and our stay was great. We enjoyed Mate Factor, coffee shop that was a few houses down, then we walked all over Savannah the first day. We rode the trolley and saw wonderful homes and parks. We ate terrific noodles at the Flying Monk (suggested by the Ambassador s that help out tourist like us). The weather was great for January!!! Overall a wonderful trip and look forward to doing it again.
Loved our "Porch Lovers Dream". House was well stocked, rooms felt spacious and clean. There was a lot of character to the house and we enjoyed the front porch as well as the courtyard and outdoor fireplace.
The pictures are a good reflection of this vacation rental. It's charming, fairly basic as you'd expect for the price, clean and convenient. Booking as quick and convenient. The beds were a little touch of luxury, with high quality mattresses and linens. The verandah is a terrific place for cocktails and as the weather allows breakfast. Great coffee shop 1/2 block away and a grocery store 1 block away. Easy walking to everything in the historical district, as well as access to major transportation including CATS and the free trolley that takes you around the historical district. The vivacious and active 3 year old upstairs proved there is no sound insulation between up and down suites, and that could be an issue. Fortunately little girls go to bed early! Overall a great pleasure to stay here and nice value for the money.
We stayed here for three nights. We enjoyed all the charm that this home offered. It was easy to get to, and it was very well stocked. There's a Kroger grocery store very close. Would definitely stay here again. My favorite part of the home was the porch.
This house was absolutely beautiful. It has plenty of room and so much charm. We came to Savannah for a sisters' weekend and it easily housed us and it was conveniently located to all the major attractions in Savannah! Mary was so helpful too. I loved corresponding with her. We will definitely be looking to stay here again on our next trip to Savannah!
We absolutely loved this property. It was clean, situated in a beautiful street, 5 minutes walk to the supermarket and less than 2 minutes walk to an awesome café! The house itself was stunning and we loved the old charm feeling it exuded - even the bed linen was gorgeous! It had everything we needed in it. We spent many hours sitting out on the front porch in very comfortable seating, enjoying the world go by! It was an easy 20 minute walk down to River Road through very pretty streets in the historic area of Savannah. The property manager was prompt to reply to our queries - I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a special place to stay in Savannah.
Went for a girls weekend and really enjoyed staying here. Owners were on site and very friendly. Location was nice but is not really walking distance to where all the restaurants and night life is. House was clean and we felt completely safe. Would stay here again if available!
We felt like the locals living in this beautiful home. We loved the king sized beds and relaxing in the courtyard after the day's activities. Morning coffee on the porch was a treat. Only issue is parking rules. We didn't see the sign for Friday night street cleaning and got 25.00 ticket
Owner Response
One side of Hall Street gets swept Friday night. The other is swept Wednesday night. It is necessary to move your car from one side to the other on those 2 nights. That is the only trick to parking. Signs are posted (sweep hours are in the middle of the night). The remaining 5 nights of the week both sides of the street are equally fine.
The location was easily accessible to everywhere in the Historic District. I've been using VRBO for 20+ years. This was the best stocked location I have ever used. The owner obviously wants to make you feel at home and need for nothing. Most rentals give you a day or two start up kit. The owner kept toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, sweeteners and much more fully stock for our entire stay.
Our family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in the historic district. We found everything to be clean and in good working order. We were in town for our nieces wedding at The Mansion on Forsyth. We were so close we were able to walk to Forsyth Park and the nearby Kroger is also a quick 5 minute walk. The permanent residents of this neighborhood are some of the friendliest people we have ever met and the neighborhood is surprisingly quiet. We will definitely stay here again. Morning coffee on the front porch was a perfect way to start the day.
The home was on a quiet street that was easy to park on. The house was cute, clean and had all the things you would need for a stay. Mary was wonderful to work with and got back to me super fast with any questions I had. It was a great experience. I would rent from her again.
I loved the street this home was on. Nice and quiet, away from the hub bub of down town. We stayed on the ground floor of a beautiful late 1800s home. Huge front porch with swings. Full kitchen and two large bedrooms were nice. We also had family who stayed in the large living room on the foldaway couch. Easily sleeps 6 in the home. The only drawback was we had to walk slightly over a mile to get to any location down town (driving is not an option because of difficult parking). But the walk is BEAUTIFUL!
Owner Response
The major destination that is indeed a mile away is the Riverfront on the opposite side of the Historic District. However, lots of other tourist destinations, parks, restaurants and shops are scattered around the Historic District within the square mile area of the Historic District, closer to this house.
We absolutely loved this home. The furnishings were comfortable, beds had nice linens and were very comfortable. The location couldn't have been better! It was an easy walk to several restaurants, a coffee shop, grocery store and a beautiful park. We even walked down to a ghost tour. We spent evenings on the front porch watching the trolleys go by. We really didn't want to leave. Thanks Mary for providing such a beautiful home!
What a lovely home. The location was great and we walked everywhere. The beds were very comfortable and the towels were soft. We sat in the court yard, had a fire and drank some wine each evening. This is close to grocery and coffee. Really, what else do you need? Loved it! Thanks.
We loved this place! My only complaints would be that it only has 1 full bath and no blender. The location was great. It was so nice to have the Krogers/Starbucks/liquor store within a block. The little bakery at the corner was divine. A very quaint area. I would certainly recommend this place. My other recommendation to anyone is...take a cab downtown, parking is horrible and a lot of the spots are only for 1 hour. It wasn't much for a cab ride from this location.
Owner Response
We now have a blender!
First I would like to say how wonderful it was working with Mary Andersen. She is not only friendly but efficient! She had answers to any of my questions and very helpful. Thank you Mary! As far as the rental space I could not have been more pleased. It was spacious and immaculate. Decorated wonderful, high end linens and kitchen fully equipped. I loved the porch swing! The area where this rental is is in walking distance to everything. A few times after late night dining we called for a cab which was very reasonable. Should I return to Savannah I would definitely rent this unit again. Mary Ellen Basile & Family
Comfy beds, spacious house, convenient location. It was nice to stay in a regular house where it was easy to prepare our own breakfasts and lunches. The house was very comfortable for the four of us. We loved having the large grocery store just a block away, Forsythe Park just a few blocks away, and a darling coffee shop with delicious treats just down at the corner. Walking to the downtown area was easy -so scenic and pedestrian-friendly. The washer and dryer, and the hairdryer provided, allowed us to travel very lightly! A few little improvements I'd suggest: more lighting in the living room, and stronger Wifi.
My cousin from Ecuador came to visit us in Florida for a couple of weeks. We thought Savannah would be a great city to take her where she could enjoy our Southern culture and a great deal of history of our country. Thanks to VRBO my wife found a great place to stay inside the historical center of the city. It was a beautiful 2-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath attached home with an elegant living area and modern kitchen. it was a perfect location with a stop for the tour bus just a block away. We did not even have to drive once we parked in our temporary home. What a great experience my cousin, my wife and I had. I bet my cousin is telling everyone in Ecuador there is musch more than Disneyworld in the USA.
We loved this place! First the rental manager was great, very quick in response and easy to contact. The location is amazing, in walking distance to everything, but away from too much noise. The place is absolutely gorgeous and so cozy! I highly suggest staying here whether it is with friends or family, you will not be dissapointed! Wish we would have stayed longer than 2 days!
We enjoyed our home away from home in Savannah. The home was exactly as pictured: nice living room, convenient kitchen, very comfortable beds, clean rooms, quiet neighborhood, washer and dryer, and right on the trolley line (the guide talked about our home as we drove by), and so much more interesting and spacious than a hotel room. The patio and porches are a wonderful plus, but, unfortunately, it was too cool and our stay too short to enjoy them. A grocery store and a bus stop for the free bus are close by.
My friend and I absolutely LOVED this home. They thought of everything! On a quiet street with a beautiful park and a grocery store within walking distance. Parking is easy. SO much better than a hotel. Would love to stay again.
The house was a very lovely house. Huge king size bedrooms with doors leading out to the courtyard where the outdoor fireplace and two gas grills were. The courtyard and the front porch were very inviting. Living room and kitchen were lovely, too. Street parking was just right; the brick cobblestone street is very "Savannah". The trolley stop was a few steps from the house as was Kroger and Starbucks! We will definitely try to book this house again!!!!
My friend an I stayed the week of June 7th, 2014 and had a fantastic time. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this house, especially the location. We are two forty-something friends that have traveled together for years, and having two bedrooms was a definite plus. Having a Kroger supermarket practically next door was also really convenient. We spent the week sightseeing and lazing in the house to beat the heat. On street parking was never an issue and the house is located 3 blocks from Forsythe Park and a trolley tour stop (in fact the trolley goes by the house each day lol). This is truly a fantastic alternative to an impersonal hotel, staying in this house really gave us the feeling of 'living' in Savannah, even just for a week.
My husband and I stayed at this wonderful home for his 65th birthday. Everything was just as described on the listing and was perfectly located for a stay in Savannah. Being removed from the downtown area enough to be quiet and relaxing but still within walking distance. Parking was easy with plenty of space on the street. The neighborhood was great as were the neighbors that live there full time. We did not do much cooking but the unit is fully equipped if you wish to do so. We spent every morning on the front porch having our coffee and listening to the birds sing. Mary was great to work with and always available to answer questions.
We had a girl's weekend and this was the perfect location. It is very convenienly located and close to everything. Krogers is just around the corner. Mary was very helpful and easy to work with. Would stay here again!
Our stay was great. Condo was very spacious and the beds were really comfortable. The owner was very helpful. Also there were all the gadgets and dishes you need in the kitchen.lol The porch swing was nice place to relax on after walking all day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!! It's close enough to walk to some amazing sites and drive to others but still far enough away from all of the noise/hustle and bustle of riverstreet! The amenities are also very nice and accommodating as well! I would definitely stay here again!
My wife, adult daughter and I just completed a 5 night stay at Porch Lover's Dream. This is a great location near Forsythe Park and many great restaurants and cafés in the historic district. The home is well furnished and maintained. Mary was very helpful in answering any questions and offering suggestions. We walked in Forsythe Park every morning and travelled around other historic sites in the afternoon. Back in the Day Bakery is a must for breakfast and/or lunch. We ate lunch once but went for breakfast every day. Lulu's Chocolate Bar is a gem near City Market. The best idea for a restaurant/bar ever conceived; chocolate desserts and full service bar. Fabulous! and, of course, Leopold's is the best ice cream parlor around. We already have our to-do list started for our next visit and we will definitely check for availability of this VRBO property.
Three friends and I truly enjoyed staying at the rental property for our Girls Getaway. It is perfectly located near everything....River Street...Tybee Island....First African Baptist Church etc. The rental is within walking distance of Kroger and is beautifully decorated. It set the stage for a memorable holiday getaway!
Excellent location (walking distance from everything and Kroger next door) for this beautiful 2 bedroom townhouse. Newly renovated, in perfect condition. Very quiet with easy parking on the street. Property manager very helpful and easy to work with. Highly recommend. We spent 3 nights there and had a wonderful stay. Will definitely come back!
