Well, our weekend was exactly as we had hoped it would be. The apartment worked extremely well for us (2 adult couples). The dual master suite set up was perfect. And the location could not have been better. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The recommendations provided were perfect! We would absolutely stay here again!
The apartment was very clean and cozy. We loved that each bedroom had a king size bed and a full private bath. The location was PRIME and everything was within walking distance. The town was jumping Friday & Saturday night so the noise level outside is to be expected. Our stay was enjoyable and we would stay again if we return to Savannah.
This is a terrific apartment in a fabulous location! Apartment was as pictured online. Kitchen was well stocked if youre interested in cooking- although there are many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Communication with Mary (property manager) was great. She also left many recommendations for sights, tours, and places to eat and shop.
This place is in a great location. Over all the place is good a place to stay. The windows in the unit are not insulated so the bedrooms get overly hot while the living room and dining room gets cold. The bathroom door in the bedroom that is straight ahead when you come into the apartment has busted door jam and is hard to close all the way. The apartment has everything you need as way of liens but the kitchen could use a few lines such as towels and a dish cloth. I would stay there again and recommend the place. It is a little pricey.
We were a party of 4 adults (seniors). Great location - right where we wanted to be - shopping, restaurants, tours all within walking distance. The entry area to the unit has an odor and is not attractive. The apartment itself is fine, though. The beds are comfy. The bedrooms are large. The place is clean. The living room furniture is not very comfortable, but it was OK. The water temp/pressure was great in the showers. We did not cook, so I cannot comment about the kitchen. We basically were out all day and came "home" to sleep. I would definitely rent this again. It met our needs.
5-star property all-around! Our entire family Highly recommends this unit! Comfy, clean, spacious dwelling with excellent bedding for a good night's sleep. You will NOT find a more ideal location for exploring all of downtown Savannah by foot. Great restaurants all around property. A very easy 3-4 block walk to City Market and River Street. Our top mark goes to Mary, the Owner though. Her communication was impeccable from pre-booking, through post-departure. We actually left an item behind at the condo and the owner set it aside for us in a safe place allowing a local family friend to retrieve it 1 week after our stay. This means a lot to us and tells you everything you need to know about the owner's character. Will stay here again if the opportunity arises. Thanks Mary!
This is a lovely property, and while it's directly on a main thoroughfare in Savannah, the bedrooms are incredibly quiet, which is great for people who aren't on the moving "peddling bars" that are travelling up and down the street in the evening. We enjoyed having permanent parking, and in fact, never moved our car after arriving in Savannah. If it was too far to walk, Uber was a quick call away! Bathrooms and kitchen are well appointed, and it was great having use of the laundry right in the apartment. When I visit Savannah again, this will be my "go to" location.
The place was great. It was extremely convenient for walking around Savannah. While the people staying in the bedrooms didn't hear any of the traffic, the people on the pull out couch in the living room hardly slept both nights because of how loud it was on the streets. We enjoyed having a kitchen and utilized cooking in one night. Overall a great place and would recommend.
My two 20+ year old sons had never been to Savannah. Our property was located in a great area to get out and walk and see the city. The property was clean. With four of us, there were plenty of places to sleep with the 2 bedrooms and the pull out sofa. Our unit had everything you'd want. Great restaurants and shopping nearby. We made a day at Tybee Beach which is a 25 minute trip. Also, the unit has space available in a nearby parking deck to park your vehicle. Building is very secure as well. We want to come back again and stay.
This place was adorable, spacious, and in an excellent location. The kids loved the Mary Poppins view from the rooftop. One tip: if you plan to cook the kitchen utensils are a tad bit sparse, but that probably won;t matter because there are so many restaurants youll want to try. Also theres a corkscrew so youre basically set.
It is a fantastic location for being in the heart of all the action. The two beds are comfortable and it was nice to have two bathrooms. If someone does need to sleep on sofa or spare roll away, make sure it’s either your night owl or heavy sleeper. It’s very lively out until the early morning hours and you can hear the street and revelers from the street. It’s all Happy sounds of people having fun in the city. You can easily walk most everywhere. We didn’t cook in the kitchen, so can’t comment. The A/C worked very well, and it was a very hot weekend. The car garage was a short walk away, but we really didn’t take our car out all that much.
Thanks Lore! The majority of guests are able to enjoy a vacation from driving and just take advantage of storing their car for the duration of the trip which is a huge value. The owner of this condo PAYS for one vehicle's parking at Robinson Memorial garage the nearest public parking deck during the entire stay! The city noises can be drowned out nicely by a white noise app so future travelers may wish to download one to their phone, there are many options which are typically free. Thanks for pointing out that could be a good idea for anyone sleeping in the living room on the sofa bed. Glad the AC worked so well, this is the top of a historic building right under the sun so we work hard to keep our guests cool in the summer :)
Reservation, instructions re arrival easy and very professional. Unit was as described and the location was fabulous. Only downside for us was the level of noise from people and cars outside. Not sure if this is normal but if you are a party-pooper instead of a partier don't plan on going to bed early. ( BTW one of the bedrooms is an internal room so it was much quieter) Enjoyed the stay and the ambience of the historic building. Would definitely stay there again.
If you are the kind of person who likes to park the car and wander, this is the condo for you! About 3 blocks from the City Market, maybe 5 from the bustling River Street. Restaurants and bars abound. Even if you want to be lazy for a day and still see the sights, you are only one block from the free DOT trolley stop that takes you around the entire Historic District. Condo is roomy and comfortable up on the 4th floor of a main street commercial building.
The condo is very clean, with comfortable beds and great street views. The kitchen is a bit small but is outfitted well enough to cook for 4-6 people. We made a giant batch of paella (brought our own pan) with fresh local seafood and the stove and oven were up to the task. It's not particularly cozy - wood floors and not much sound dampening drapery - but the urban vibe is attractive and would be even better as a cool retreat from the outside heat of summer. It was chilly outside on our visit and the heating system was fine.
We were pleased with our trip. We were able to view happenings on Broughton Street out our living room windows (even a parade). The shopping and restaurants close to the apartment were plentiful. The property was clean. Thank you, Mary, for sharing your apartment.
The condo worked perfectly for our vacation. It was close to everything we were in town to see and do. With that you get lots of noise all night long. Condo is also a bit dated and worn out from being used as a short term rental. Kitchen is old and small. We didn’t cook any meals and it seems not many tenants do. Bathrooms could use an update or at least fix the door hinges so the doors close. Maybe update the AC for those hot Savannah nights too. It was good to have access to the public parking lot but the walk back was a little scary after dark. Overall we loved the place and would rent again when we are in Savannah.
While this condo's kitchen and bathrooms are not recently remodeled we must point out that the air conditioning is completely updated and is a very powerful efficient unit installed just over a year ago. Any guest who visits our city in the heat of the summer and is not accustomed to southern heat or historic buildings may still find something to complain about with the climate control in any historic home rental regardless of the central hvac capability. We appreciate the five stars and simply want future guests to rest assured this unit is equipped with the very best air conditioning available.
This place was in a PERFECT location. It was so close to everything. We parked and didn't get back in the car until our weekend was over. Great bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms. The dining area and living room were perfect sizes for our group of 4. While I'm sure a lot of people would spend the entire weekend going out, we like to do some happy hours and breakfasts where we are staying and for that, the kitchen was a little less than. It was very small and not well stocked. The toaster was also broken. I also want to include a comment about the one-ply toilet paper. For such an incredibly nice place, finding one-ply was very disappointing. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. There was a very helpful book with great tips on restaurants and things to do and we definitely had plenty to do!
The property was in a great location. Don’t be fooled by the outside entrance, when you get to the loft, it’s beautiful. It was very spacious for the four of us. Once we parked in the provided spot in the parking garage, we could walk to nearly everything. Great place!
Group of four adults. Unit had everything we needed. Location was amazing. Could have used a few more kitchen towels but laundry in the unit so not really a problem. Could use a little updating, but it is in the historic district so overall we were very pleased
The location made this a perfect place to stay. It’s two blocks from the City Market and four blocks from River Street. We parked our car and walked for two days. The loft itself is simple but very comfortable with a sitting area and two nice sized bedrooms. The beds were very comfy and street noise was not an issue. The loft is charming with its brick walls and dark wood floors. It was perfect for two couples and our two day stay.
This was my first experience with VRBO and it worked out great. The condo was the perfect location and was so comfortable for 4 ladies who wanted a girls' getaway. The two king sized beds and two bathrooms were so much better than a cramped hotel room. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning before setting out for a morning of sight seeing. Evenings with a glass of wine in comfy clothes were a great way to end the day. Once we parked our car, we didn't need it again until we left. We never had to take a taxi or Uber. even in cold weather, everything was walking distance.
The apartment looked exactly like the photos & the location was beyond perfect. We didn't have to pay for any cabs or ubers the entire weekend because the apartment is within a 5-10 min walk of pretty much everywhere you need to go. Mary was quick to respond & I would definitely recommend this for a small group!
Loved this place. We enjoyed our stay. It was within walking distance to most everything we did. We parked our car in the garage for the weekend and used uber when needed. We were in town for a wedding. The wedding was the only time we had to uber. Highly recommend! 10.00 bottomless mimosas and delicious brunch was steps away. Shopping galore. City market two blocks away. Great place to stay!
Excellent property as advertised in the hub of the downtown area. I was there for my daughter's wedding and couldn't of asked for a better property. It was clean, quiet, and centrally located. And abundance of things to do in the area within walking distance. I will stay there again and highly recommend it to friends and relatives.
We went for a small bachlorette getaway. This condo is located in just the right spot for that. Shopping, Bars, Food, (late night food) is within walking distance. We had such a great time and Mary was very accommodating. My only suggestion would be it needs atleast one if not two full length mirrors inorder to assist 5 girls to get ready. Overall all our trip was great and this condo made it!!
You cannot beat the location! Having parking is also great, but you don't need it. Everything is in walking distance. Went there for a college graduation, and it was nice to have the daughters over and not have to talk all huddled on a hotel bed. Would definitely stay there in the future!!!
We loved the property and the location! It was perfect for our birthday celebration. Lots of info in the unit about Savannah, etc. Great that it had one parking pass. You will park your car and not drive anywhere if you're not going to the beach or somewhere out of downtown. We will stay there again!
We rented this property for a girls weekend and I must say, it was not only an easy process but the place is in the perfect location & had plenty of space! Everyone had a bed (big enough to sleep 6 with the 2 bedrooms & 2 rollaways) and there was plenty of common space to enjoy the weekend! Will definitely recommend and be back one day (as it was not only cute and met all of our lodging needs, but it was super affordable!)
We planed this trip back in March, we looked at a lot of places and choose to give this one a try. We arrived on Tuesday after hurricane Matthew hit the area on Friday. I called and spoke with Mary on Sunday and she told me they had power and the airport was open, so we decided to go. When we arrived the loft was just as it was pictured. The location was great and the parking garage was easy to get to and from. We walked most everywhere we went. It's three short blocks off the river. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. We found a good breakfast place called Goose feathers , it was a block from the loft and we ate there 3 times in 4 days..while there was a lot of storm damage and the loss of some huge beautiful trees out stay was great. If you are considering going to Savanaha you will do well to look at this property.
Everything you want is right here. Big spacious rooms. Comfortable beds and phenomenal view. For some reason we had a problem locating the hairdryer and after texting Mary she responded in five minutes and a crisis was avoided! Was like having our own hotel concierge! Location is perfect steps away from everything and the parking pass was a godsend We will definitely be staying here again
For very little expense, several things could be improved - some doors don't close, only place to sit in the main area (the tall table) was unstable, no dressers to put clothes away - lived out of suitcases, the TV in the living room is too far away from the couches, poor lighting throughout, lack of nightstands on each side of the bed, ancient T.V in the bedroom, the ironing board cover doesn't tie, only one pan, needed more hangers in the closets. The tall windows are lovely but hung with cheap broken (held together with tape and rubber bands) curtain rods - one curtain fell off the first time we tried to look out the window. The location was great! The condo was clean.
The value of this condo is compelling to anyone who has priced a hotel across the street. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms for the same or less than 1 hotel room with one bathroom. Each bedroom has a closet with hangers, but indeed no dressers as shown in photos. Please know that the photos are literal and what you see is what you will get. We have a full set of pots and pans in the kitchen. We did replace the 2 broken curtain rods after this person's stay, well before receiving this review since the maid told us about the issue. I will check the ironing board cover tie to see if I can fix that tie. Reviews are held for 2 weeks on VRBO so letting me know about things I can address such as the wobbly table (which we have stabilized) faster with a direct message to me is greatly appreciated. We are glad even a critical review writer agreed that the location is great and the cleanliness was noted!
Cute apartment. The location is amazing. Historic Savannah right outside the front door! Owner was very prompt at answering concerns upon our arrival and issue was rectified immediately. Furniture is a bit sparse. Be careful of the dining table...a bit wobbly...needs repair. 2 TVs...one in living room and one in one bedroom. Bedroom TV needs updating (or removal). Definitely served it's purpose well and recommend a stay here.
We loved our stay - can't beat the location! Everything we wanted to see/do, great shopping, and all the best bars/restaurants in downtown Savannah are right outside your door within easy walking distance. We stayed for a long weekend with two couples and the condo was very spacious and easily accommodated everyone. Can't wait to come back!
Couldn't ask for a better stay & the parking pass was SO helpful downtown. Right on Broughton St w all the great restaurants steps away. I saw on the ad the elevator was being serviced but Mary assured me beforehand all was now up & running. No issues whatsoever. Ran fine all week. And Mary is fantastic w response time Great comfy beds. Tons of space for all of us. And a huge wall of windows giving us a panoramic view all Savannah has to offer. Cannot wait to come back!
The condo is nice and clean. The location is terrific. Hard to beat. It's on the top (fourth) floor of the building overlooking the main street below. At night you can hear the occasional fast car or motorcycle zooming by so if you're a light sleeper you may want to consider ear plugs. Our biggest issue is the building does not have a working elevator. We rented in May 2016. Two days prior to our arrival the property manager informed us that the elevator had not been working since January. I didn't see this in the listing at the time I rented but I do see it now. It's completely possible that I missed it. However, the listing states that "The elevator is very old and is undergoing a renovation scheduled to be competed before Spring 2016. During the renovation there will be days that the elevator is shut down". Well, it is Spring 2016 and it is still not working and there is no evidence that I could see that it is being worked on. Just a sign saying it doesn't work. And it was never operational during our 3 days there. How does a building get away with a non-functional elevator for 5 months? If you have restrictions preventing you from climbing stairs you will want to make sure that the elevator is working before you rent this. We were fortunate that we were physically able to make the trek. I looked at it as good exercise but it did get old and I didn't like the late notice that the elevator was not working. This is the reason for my 3 star rating. Had the elevator been working I would give this a 4 or 5 star rating.
Our elevator is now working! From 2015 until now I disclosed on the ad that the planned renovation would result in periods that the elevator was shut down for the equipment installation. This was a major undertaking with a tricky timeline and I did my very best to notify and work with guests during that period based on their ability to do the walkup. This building location is so fantastic that very few people chose to move or cancel based on this info. As it turned out we had guests using the stairs regularly. We are beyond thankful that time period is over now and guests can ride to the 4th floor. - Mary Anderson, Jun 16, 2016.
This is a great condo, in a very convenient location. It's spacious, clean, charming, and with 2 bedrooms/2 baths and a complete kitchen, it was perfect for our weekend getaway. We were 4 college friends hoping to reconnect after many years and we were looking forward to a nice weekend in Savannah. And this condo fit the bill! Convenient to everything in the historic district, it was a walk away from restaurants, the river, shopping, the squares -- everything! There's an ATM machine across the street (so convenient!). There are a couple of local places for breakfast, within a 3-minute walk, and so many restaurants and bars within walking distance. You will hear some activity in the street at night, but the living room and dining area face the street. You will not hear anything in the bedrooms and what you hear from the common areas is not loud at all (there are no bars in the immediate vicinity). Also, because this place is right on the street where a lot of stores are located, and they close at 9, whatever street activity you hear will end at a reasonable hour. The area is also well-lit, and very pedestrian-friendly, and even at night we did not feel that we were in any danger. We walked, rode the trolley to a lot of the historic sites, went on house tours and museum tours, ate a lot and shopped a little. We had a great time. Savannah is a wonderful city, with so much charm and history and good food. And I can most definitely say that staying in this condo enhanced our visit. The owner is also very helpful and very accessible. We would happily recommend this place and the owner (since they have several units in the area!) to ANYONE.
The loft is beautiful exactly as the photos . Building acces was no issue. Elevator makes it perfect for lots of luggage or disabled. Bathroom in each bedroom is great for teenager or girls weekend. Loft was well equipped with necessities and was very clean . There is a guest book and notes with many great ideas for dinner and favorite places , it was very useful.Parking for loading and unloading proved to be difficult, street parking is next to none unless you happen to be a small car at the right time. Parking officers give no breaks. Only a witness to that . The parking garage after you have the access card is great. Disregard the full sign once you have card no worries. The view is great . Restaurants , bars and shopping all easy walking. Minutes to bay and river street. The pedal rickshaw are great for two to get back quickly. This was a great place to stay. Other than loud neighbors having a party night before big run we had no issues. Absolutely wonderful visit. I can't enough about the location and surroundings.well worth it.
The place was well maintained and clean. Room with a window needs better shades. Gets pretty bright for anyone trying to sleep late. Pillows were pretty firm. Recommend softer choices. Also, was a pain not having sports channels like ESPN on the TV, and really should upgrade the TV sizes. All in all a solid choice for a weekend stay.
We put up blackout curtains in the bedroom with the window, October 2015
We stayed with another couple during the week; it was a very well maintained unit and the offsite parking was great. We didn't notice the noise from the street, and didn't have a problem with the morning light in the right bedroom. We loved the location of the loft; it allowed us to walk and enjoy everything the city had to offer. Will defiantly book it again when we visit next time.
Wow! This rental was spacious and comfortable with a nice view. My family enjoyed the close proximity to Goosefeathers, the City Market, and Lady & Sons. The street below was very loud on Saturday night, but you didn't hear it in the bedrooms. The parking garage access was a nice feature. We would definitely stay here again!
Excellent location. Walked across the street to Goose Feathers each morning for breakfast. There is always a line but it moves very quickly. The Telfair museums are in the square located down the street behind the building. VERY close to City Market where we enjoyed shopping, live music, food and drinks. Walk a little farther and you are on River Street. We walked to almost everything we wanted to visit. We only had to drive once to see Bonaventure Cemetery and to eat at the Green Truck Pub which is famous for their burgers. The view in the living room is fantastic. We also walked to the historic Savannah Theater where they have a great variety show. Fabulous weekend! The loft was very nicely decorated. It was clean and comfortable. The only negative is the bedroom to the right doesn't have adequate window coverings for the morning sun and night time road noise. Broughton Street is very busy and loud at night, which isn't a problem in the living room but can keep you awake in the bedroom. Then the morning sun shines right in on your very early in the morning.
Great location. Walkable everywhere. And you must try Goosefeathers for breakfast right across the street. Comfy beds with fresh soft linens and towels. The day got hot outiside-- luckily the place comes well equipped with ceiling fans in every room and brand new AC to boot. Mary is the best--real easy to work with and rapid fast on responses. Cant wait to stay here again!
This was a great location to stay and Mary A. was extremely easy to work with. The only complaint I have is when we arrived in the property, the air conditioning was not working. I called immediately and Mary brought over a unit to try to cool off the property until an air tech. could arrive. It was pretty hot until about 7:00 am the next morning, so we stayed out as long as we could. The property was clean and very roomy. I would defintely recommend staying here for all age groups and I felt safe. This location is so close to all of the shopping and only a few blocks from River street. It truly was the best location that i have ever stayed at in Savannah, and i've been to Savannah about ten times. Also, the beds were very comfortable.
We stay with Mary at her properties every time we come to Savannah and have not once been disappointed. Her properties are always clean and beautiful. This property is wonderful for is location....its so nice to be able to open the windows and look right down on Broughton Street. This was the first time my family and I brought along a friend and the place was perfect to comfortably sleep two couples and a fifth person one the provided pull-out cot which was just as comfortable as any of the beds. I would always recommend any of Marys properties for a great stay in Savannah.
This loft was right in the center of everything we wanted to see. It was only blocks from City Market and River St, and a few minutes walk from Forsyth park. The apartment was clean and welcoming and the owner provided everything we could ever need. I will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Savannah. This property is perfect for any small group looking for a great place to stay.
Myself and 4 girlfriends went up to Savannah for a girls weekend. The location is perfect for walking to shops, restaurants and bars. We didn't need our car all weekend. The loft is very well maintained and is decorated extremely well. I would return in a heartbeat!
Thanks for this generous review! We have had a great summer with happy guests all around. It's a good time to point out that 5 stars on VRBO indicates an "excellent" vacation rental. It does not mean we are on the level of a 5-star hotel. We hope to continue earning Excellent reviews and we know this property provides a venue for an enjoyable visit to this amazing city.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the heart of Savannah, this is THE place to stay. It was clean and provided the perfect amount of space for my toddler to run around. Parking was easy and close by. Many shops, restaurants, and bars within close walking distance. Cannot wait to return!
This condo was amazing! Awesome location, very clean, parking easy to find, and the perfect amount of space for all of us. If you want to experience being in the heart of Savannah, this is THE place to stay. We loved every moment of our trip and have already said the next time we go, we are staying here again.
Wanted to give praise to the property manager for this unit. She went above and beyond our expectations. The condo was very nice, clean, comfortable, and a great location if you want to be right down in the thick of things in Savannah. We walked everywhere, did not really have a problem with parking. She recommended the Visitors Center to buy a pass where we could park at the meters, or in the garages. Great food, and antiquing. Be sure to visit Antiquities on State Street. Ate at Paula Deen's and it lived up to our expectations. Buffet was great, but we ate way too much. Baraccuda Bob's was also very good.
Thanks so much for all the guests over 2 years who handled parking "on their own" while staying here. As of August 2014 we have subscribed to a monthly garage access card to cover one vehicle for our guests to use if they desire. This covers 24/7 access to the city garage one block away. You will still be on your own for any other cars if you have more than one but as this guest says, that is not difficult.
The loft was perfect and centrally located. We chose this location due to the close proximity to Telfair Square and The Jepson Center due to our daughters wedding there. The entire weekend was perfect. Thank you!
This is a very generous review and reflects what a great time guests can have in this amazing city and in this ideally situated condo.
The condo was clean & nice. But it would have been better to have King size bed in one room. The only complaint was the outside noise. There was a small piece of equipment that had a beep beep beep that woke us & the baby early on a week-end morning. Verrry Annoying sound. All in all though the condo was nice. And yes I would stay again.
Thanks. The beeping was a cherry picker type lift/crane. I'm glad this minor noise one morning was all the guest noticed regarding that work. The 4 story historic building needed its windows redone and a permit for scaffolding and a lift was in place for the entire month of May+ some of June. This is a city, and this condo is in the exact center of the tourist activity and commerce. This will always be a peaceful rental but there will never be complete silence in a spot this close to River Street. If I can get the owner to upgrade to a King then the price for this rental will go up. Until then, if you can be satisfied with 2 Queen Suites, enjoy the great price we offer.
We enjoyed staying at your place very much. Everything was exactly as pictured and very comfortable. We have already talked about a return trip and would love to stay here again. We couldn't have found a better location! It was a super short walk to River Street and City Market where we enjoyed lots of great food! We were especially impressed with a breakfast/lunch place called Goosefeathers Cafe, which we could see from the windows of the condo. Long line, but worth the wait! Street parking on Saturday and Sunday was hard to find but the nearby garage was very inexpensive. We were lucky to get street parking right in front of the building on Monday and got a pass from the Visitor Center for $7 so we didn't have to keep feeding the meter.
My wife and I, along with two friends, used this condo for a weekend trip to Savannah, GA for a friend's wedding. First off, when compared to the prices of nearby hotel, choosing this place was a no-brainer. The location was perfect! We parked our cars in a nearby garage (which by the way are dirt cheap) and left them parked until we left 4 days later. We could walk anywhere we wanted to go downtown without any trouble. The view from the condo was great, easy to access, and the security code door was a plus as well. If there was one thing I had to say negative about this place it would be the shower heads in each bathroom. They can definitely use an update, but would not stop me from using this location again. Thanks for helping me find this location Mary. I look forward to using it again! Joshua
I have stayed at several locations by this lister/owner and have stayed at this particular condo before. We returned because we had such a wonderful time (due to location and cleanliness). We have never been disappointed at any of her properties! We were impressed with the upgrades to the furniture in this condo :-) We were not so crazy about the antiques before. The building is older due to it being in the historic part of town, but once you enter into the condo you will not be disappointed! Thank you Mary for always being so accommodating and helpful when we are visiting Savannah. Savannah is a very special place for my husband and I. It is comforting knowing we can return time and time again and come to a VERY clean place that we actually call home when we are there :-) We will be back to stay soon! You have to try the new Mexican restaurant just a few blocks away "Tequilas". Great food!!
I agree Tequila's Town is a FANTASTIC restaurant and amazing new addition to the plethora of dining options near the condo. Like many of my amazingly sweet repeat customers, I feel like I know this couple despite having only talked on the phone! I have several families who come here so often they should own their own VRBO. I appreciate the loyalty so much and will always hope to earn repeat business.
Admittedly, we had high expectations due to the other reviews. In reality, this condo, as well as the public areas, are in desperate need of some basic maintenance. The bottom line is...the condo needs to be painted and the bathrooms need attention. There are definite signs of wear on the walls and in the bathrooms. One of the toilets would not flush unless the handle was held down. The other bathroom has molding trim coming off of the walls. The vanity and floor were splattered in paint. Obviously, the painter did not care about clean up. We had a major spill in the kitchen and while cleaning the floor, we were shocked to find that the new wood floor did not continue under the cabinets or appliances. This made cleaning up difficult as the liquid rolled over the wood floor edges onto the raw floor under the cabinets. The interior bedroom (no windows, unless you count the "peep hole" window high above the bed which looks out into the living area) was difficult to sleep in as the neighbors next door were partying well past 4 a.m. and their living room was against that bedroom wall. The other bedroom, with the outside wall, was just as loud with noise from outside making sleep difficult. We arrived at the condo on a Thursday afternoon, and even with a parking permit, finding parking was next to impossible. Once parked, we didn't dare move the car until our day of departure. Upon arrival, after a long day of travel, we were shocked to find that the lock box, which was to contain the key to get in, was empty. So here we were, four adults standing in a dark hallway, waiting for the owner to arrive with a key. The housekeeper had told the owner that she could not get the key back in the lock box, but the owner did not understand what the housekeeper had told her. Therefore, no key. After a 25 minute wait, we were called on our cell phone and asked to come downstairs and get the key ourselves. Okay, that was fine but at least offer something for the trouble...a bottle of wine, a small rental discount...nothing. Then on departure day, we receive a text requesting that we make sure to put the key back in the lock box! The location of the condo is indeed convenient, but unless you don't have other options, consider looking elsewhere.
The photos have always looked exactly like the condo will look when you walk inside. Short of a close up of a paint drip on the vanity I cannot imagine more literal photos. This guest's criticism prompted my immediate planning of a fresh paint job which is now complete (the condo used to be yellow). The "public areas" aren't glamorous, I cannot change that but the awesome location makes up for it. Most people have not spent their brief vacation inspecting the place quite so critically, therefore nobody else had EVER mentioned the paint. Being in the center of town is what many tourists desire but it sometimes comes with city noise. I had a talk with the owner of the neighboring condo about the party. He assured me that will not happen again. If noise were always a problem in this rental you would see it come up in every review. In fact this unit is typically peaceful. We now have a keyless entry system to prevent lock box mixups but in this situation I had no idea the guest was unhappy after I provided immediate assistance by producing the key in a matter of minutes along with apologizing. I told her that my 2 small children were both asleep in their car seats and therefore I asked if she could come down and retrieve the key from me. I would otherwise certainly have taken it up myself! I was parked right outside the building door. She sent her husband down. He seemed totally satisfied with my speedy arrival, as many reasonable people would be, so I did not imagine I had such a disgruntled person on my hands. I do communicate with checkout instructions sometimes and I am sorry she was offended that I asked her to return the key to the lock box. I would have given her 2 bottles of wine, one for each night she stayed, if I knew how she felt and especially if I thought it would stop a bad review. But I might not have arrived with the key so quickly if I had to stop for wine :). The bottom line is: I was available to help, I would have been available to listen and I am sad that I received a bad review.
My family and I spent a few days in Savannah and were fortunate to stay in this cute and very clean condo. It is very spacious. It is within walking distance to everything in downtown Savannah. We parked our cars on the day we arrived and never had to use them during our stay. Great eateries and shopping are nearby. Awesome view! The lady we booked the condo through was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back. By the way, the beds are very comfortable! A huge PLUS!!
Apartment was beautiful to stay in - loved the wood floors and open brick walls. Very comfy rooms with lots of closet space for our stuff, and centrally located so it's extremely convenient to the market, cute shops, and major squares and sights. Handy having the washer/dryer and wifi in the unit. The property was clean, well maintained, and the photos reflect the reality. Will have to try out Alligator Soul next door for the music next time I'm down. Would recommend visiting Byrd Cookie Company (they have free samples to try before buying) and Hueys on the River for food - particularly the crawfish etouffee. Would definitely recommend staying at this property and plan to come back next time I'm in town.
This place is great! My husband & I traveled with another couple, it worked out perfect! It was a very convenient walk to everywhere. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the windows really made the trip. We hung out just people watching! Im a very light sleeper, yet wasnt kept awake at night by the world happening right outside. Very cute, cozy & comfy place to stay & enjoy Savannah. Already trying to plan our next trip & will stay here again! Thank you!!
Excellent vacation rental, exactly as described. Very spacious, clean, well-maintained. Very comfortable bed. Couldn't have found a more convenient location. Stayed here for one week and this was the perfect place to use as our "base camp". Owner was very responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.
Thank you! I think we now have this space outfitted with what guests need in order to be very comfortable. This is the first week-long stay for this unit. I'm very glad to know the guest enjoyed both the location and the condo itself. -Mary
This unit does not have 2 queen beds to accommodate 4 adults. The bed may be a full size. Not what the description says. I was very disappointed! The furniture in this condo is nice to look at but not comfortable. The location of this condo was great.
This review was written before we switched out the beds and the sofas. The bed size was accurately listed in the description at the time this guest booked, therefore I can only guess that this person was unfamiliar with the definition of "Double" size (Full) beds. He also saw photos of the former Full beds when he chose this unit. That said, it's all changed now. I had been wanting to upgrade to Queen and can say that this review prompted me to get it done. NOW (end of July 2013) the beds are both Queen, as shown in the new photos. Also the antique sofas and chaise lounges mentioned in other reviews have been swapped out for a nice new leather sofa and love seat. Keep in mind this review will still be sitting here forever because they will never remove any reviews. So this reviewers comments which were mistaken (he booked a unit with two Full beds, which technically do sleep 2 people) at the time will be even more confusing. But we keep our photos updated and you can always call me with questions about the amenities. At least this guest admitted the location was great! Nobody can argue with that.
We had a great time in Savannah! This was a great location, close to shopping and restaurants. It was nice to look out the windows in the evening and watch the activity on the streets below. The condo was nice, great for two couples, each having their own bedroom/bathroom. I would agree with previous reviewers that the living room furniture was not comfortable, but everything else made up for it. Would stay here again!!
Location is awesome!! The unit was very clean. The only issue was that the furniture in the living area is very dated and very uncomfortable. This could be one of the best places in Savannah if the furniture were updated. After walking around all day it would have been nice to have a place to relax and put your feet up. Don't get me wrong we had a great time and great location!!!! Mary is the best to work with!!! I will definitely call her again.
I completely agree about the furniture but I manage this unit for a friend who thinks the period pieces are just fine. I have 2 other units in the building though ;) This one has many strengths to make up for the furniture weakness. Thank you for your honesty!
Our experience was fine except for the difficulty in finding food and liquor stores to stock the kitchen. The location is SO convenient for touring Savannah. The square dining table was also handy as we like to play cards.
So glad this guest enjoyed the property. This address is centered amongst restaurants and bars and a bit farther from the grocery store but there are a few smaller convenience stores and CVS within blocks of it. For future guests, the main grocery store for the Historic District is Kroger which is under one mile southeast of this property on Gwinnett Street at Habersham. There is a Kroger discount card in the unit for guests to use. There are 2 liquor stores downtown, one small "package shop" is a few blocks away from this condo on Bay Street and one is closer to Kroger, a large one with a full selection of wine, beer and liquor called Ganem's Winery (aka Johnnie Ganem's) at the corner of Habersham and Gaston Street. There is also a fabulous organic gourmet grocery store called Brighter Day Natural Foods at the southern end of Forsyth Park facing the tennis courts. They even sell sandwiches and smoothies on weekdays. Don't hesitate to call me to find out where things are. -Mary
My stayed here 3/9-3/13/13 with my daughter. The two bedrooms with their own bathroom is a great set-up. The beds are very comfortable. We basically only slept there, but the time we did spend there was nice. We felt safe, I know there are may be concerns about that in Savannah but you have to have a code to get into the bldg and that was a big plus. The location really is unbeatable, you can easily walk to the river front and all over historic Savannah. We took a taxi from and to airport, you really do not need a rental car to stay in the historic district where all the attractions are. We took a van to Tybee Island for a $6.00 roundtrip. I would stay here again.
Greaet! The van to Tybee leaves from the Visitors Information Center. That is a great tip for guests who choose not to rent or bring a car.
Stayed in this condo last weekend with three friends. It was our first time visiting Savannah and we were in the perfect spot to walk around and tour the city. The condo is so charming inside. We felt very comfortable and we were glad we cancled our initial hotel room in favor of this option instead. Mary was more than helpful and we appreciated her restaurant and ghost tour recommendations. We can't wait to go back and visit again! Thank you Mary for your hospitality!
Amazing location!! My husband and I have visited Savannah from Florida at least 20 times and this is by far the best location/condo we have ever stayed in (Yes, we LOVE Savannah!). We have stayed in hotels and B&B's in Savannah, but have come to love staying at VRBOs. This condo was beautiful with the bricks lining the wall. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom. We were there with another couple and it was perfect. It was very spacious for a 2 bedroom/2 bath. We loved our view looking out onto the main street and the beautiful bridge going to South Carolina. We loved walking right out onto Broughton Street every morning and being at Goose Feathers Cafe in 2 minutes (amazing cafe!). We would stay here every time, if it were available! Mary (the owner/manager) has another home that we absolutely love as well and have stayed in (on Jones Street), but nothing beats this location. Mary is very accommodating and even sent us coupons for local attractions, via email, prior to arriving. We highly recommend staying here if you want to be right in the heart of historic Savannah!
This is the one to choose if "going out" at night is a part of your vacation plans! Walk a block "home" to relax in no time when you are tired of exploring the Savannah scene. So happy to have repeat customers. I agree this is an ideal setup in terms of privacy for 2 couples traveling together.
A group of us recently stayed at this property while ringing in the new year in Savannah. I must say the best thing about the entire trip was the location. We were provided the luxury of staying on one of the main streets in Savannah and being only minutes from River Street and Forsyth Park as well. If we weren't out on the town most all of our time was spent glued to the living room windows watching the activity on the streets. The property was clean and welcoming and anything we found it missing Mary was more than happy to promptly provide us with. This is only one of Mary's properties to visit in Savannah for an amazing experience and we were just as pleased with this one as all of the others. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Savannah and have the ability to walk to almost any destination. While doing so Id recommend trying out the famous B. Matthews for brunch and you'll have to find time to make a stop at our favorite Irish pub Kevin Barry's.
In case anyone is curious why some reviews are 4 instead of 5 stars I will just offer my own assumption that the common areas of the condo building are the culprit. They are not upgraded recently (paint, etc in hallway/lobby) and they need to be. The woes of being part of an HOA! But the location is top notch and the condo is immaculately clean and has a nice view so I believe that is why the overall feedback from guests is positive.
I used to live in Savannah and still visit at least once a year. I am so glad I discovered VRBO and this is the 3rd property I have stayed in using it. This is hands down the best address so far! The listing description was totally accurate and what few questions I had (about parking for one, not hard at all as it turned out) were answered by Mary quickly and helpfully. The photos are exactly as I found it and the place was extremely clean from top to bottom. I would definitely recommend this property to friends. I would suggest the Bohemian Hotel as a restaurant and bar, and Kayak Cafe for lunch. And really this may be an unwelcome recommendation since it is a chain but Starbucks being a block away is pretty nice! There is a coffee maker in the unit but why bother, you're on vacation.
I am glad to hear I will have a repeat customer! The Starbucks on Broughton is one of the sought after Clover Brew machine stores. If you love coffee you will want to try it!
We stayed at 110 Barnard Street on Rock-n-Roll Marathon race weekend. It was a perfect location in the heart of downtown - walking distance to everything in the historic district! We loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. We settled right into the apartment and were so happy to say that it was very kid friendly. My husband and I traveled with our 9 month old and my sister, her husband and their 10 month old, We brought our pak-n-plays for the kids and the condo was perfect for the 6 of us. We do encourage you to follow the direction of the website and obtain a parking pass if you are driving. We would recommend this location to anyone who is traveling to Savannah and wanting to stay downtown. The property manager was very helpful and easy to work with. I even left my phone in our room and she is shipping it to me! This is a wonderful property and I hope we are able to come back soon!!!
I'm so glad this property has turned out to work well for families. It's nice to take a break from loading everyone into the car (and car-seats) every time you want to go somewhere.
A GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This condo is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is in the heart of downtown Savannah. It is very big and can accomodate all of your needs. Working with Mary was absolutely GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend this condo to anyone who wants to be conveniently located to ALL that Savannah has to offer. There is also a folder of local attractions to help with any questions that you may have. We had one of the BEST vacations EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad to get good feedback! This was my 2nd round of guests since this condo was offered on VRBO. Since this family did have a vehicle it was a great test run to see how the various parking options would work. They opted for the City's visitor parking pass (can be purchased at Visitor's Center or Parking Services) and they were able to park at a meter right outside the building's front door for several days.
Perfect location, super clean, very spacious.
Had everything we needed
Perfect location. Very easy walk to River Street. Mary was quick to respond and was very accommodating. Everything we needed was provided.
Great view, clean and convienent location
Mary was an outstanding host! We had a problem with the reservation we had booked at a local hotel and I emailed Mary to see if her place was available. She responded quickly to my email and she went out of her way to get her place ready for us. The apartment was very clean, had a great view, good amenities, and was convenient to everything. We definitely would stay there again!
