My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the cottage. We were shocked by the size (for being a tiny cottage it feels very roomy and very home-like. The owner was pleasant to speak with (even though it was not on the phone or in person). There was a large list of places that helped us select eateries and bars and each one that we picked from the list we enjoyed greatly! We did notice there were a some very, very small ants near the outlet by the kitchen by the end of our stay. They weren't out of hand and we did not see them elsewhere. Overall, I would recommend this cottage to anyone staying in the historic district of Savannah!
Loved the history in this little cottage with modern amenities. Comfortable bed, big fluffy towels, extra set of sheets and wonderful to have a washer and dryer in the hot and humid Savannah summer. On a beautiful street within walking distance of everything, in this historic area walking is the best way to get around because you will want to soak up the this picturesque city.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very clean and tidy. The bed comfy. The only thing I would recommend it getting a better cable company. After a long day out walking around it would be nice to lie down and watch more then 3 channels that didn’t go in and out but that was the only thing and maybe a personal preference. We really did enjoy our time and the cottage.
Owner Response
We decided to add cable in August 2018. We had a good run with just the local channels and DVD player. But it seemed like more people were making this type of comment lately so we installed Comcast/Xfinity with a good channel package that includes ESPN. -Mary
I loved my stay in Savannah. The cottage is perfect for one or two people. It has everything you need and not much more, which was perfect. I didn’t spend much time in the cottage as I walked and explored the city almost all day, each day. The city also has a free bus system that will take you from one end to the other, with many stops in between. Took a walking tour of the historic homes. It was really interesting to learn all about the architecture and the history of it all. Also did a haunted walking tour at night, which was fun. The riverboat rides on the river Queen are fun too. Lots to do and see. Purchased a rental car, which I never used except to get back and forth to the airport. I was told ”Lyft” was only $27. So if you don’t plan to leave the historic district, don’t waste your money on a rental car!
The cottage was very cute and within walking distance of everything in Savannah. The down side was the bed. It was thin and as hard as a rock. Neither of us slept for 3 nights. For this reason we would not rent this cottage again.

After hosting thousands of vacation guests in over 75 homes I have learned that opinions vary greatly regarding mattresses and what constitutes great comfort. This memory foam type is the one that pleases the most people most of the time and is what I sleep on at home and is what I use in many of the rentals. I actually get messages every week from guests asking me for the details on this type of mattress because they want to buy one after sleeping so well. It is very rare that anyone complains about this type. I get far more complaints from the homes with traditional spring mattresses. There is no mattress out there to suit every single person. This is a Zinus brand "night therapy" memory foam mattress on a firm wooden platform base.
Had a great time. Perfectly located and certainly would stay again. Only have two small complaints. The toilet paper is cheap. I feel that there should be a better quality and the connection for the tv was terrible. Obviously we weren’t there to watch tv, so not too terribly inconvenient, but annoying nonetheless. Other than those minor things it was great! Was able to walk anywhere we wanted and had an absolutely amazing stay!
Great little cottage, loved being in the historic district! Can walk almost everywhere and a short drive to Tybee. Had a great time and nice to have a washer/dryer too! Only regret is I couldn't stay longer!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. My only complaint is that the shower was too small. We loved staying down town and feeling like a local. Make sure you're ok with long walks to eat/sight see because it's about 20-25 minutes to river street.
This little cottage is so adorable. It is close to all the restaurants and stores. It was very clean when we arrived. The cottage had everything we might need including a DVD player which was neat. Would highly recommend this place. The renter Mary is very sweet and accommodating. Thanks!!
We enjoyed our the day stay at this quaint little cottage. It's a perfect location for strolling to enjoy the squares and a nice distance to River St for the restaurants and entertainment. We enjoyed the hop on hop off trolley ride and the narrative from the drivers. Unfortunately there were wifi issues - it happens. Would have been nice if the people before us had made the owner aware the toaster wasn't working but this was minor in comparison to our enjoyment of the cottage on the lane and all Savannah has to offer.
Quaint little cottage, enjoyed meeting other visitors in the shared back patio. A bit of a walk to Bay Street and downtown, especially at night. Clean. The host might benefit from sending a courtesy reminder email to the guests a week or so prior to their visit. Im glad VRBO makes it easy to contact the host!
My wife and I stayed here for a couple of days to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The location was excellent in the historic district. We went on plenty of great walks admiring the houses and squares on our way to river street. The cottage was very nice and clean. Had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The back courtyard area was great to hang out in as well. Everything about this place was a home run! Can't wait to visit again!
This was the perfect place to stay in Savannah! It was our first visit and we could not have been happier. Quiet and perfectly located and so clean. Mary was communicative and flexible. We would definitely stay in Tiny Cottage 537 again. We enjoyed walking to Cotton and Rye, Mrs. Wilkes, Picker Jim's , Two Women and a Warehouse, River street, Foxy Loxy, The Coffee Fox, Collins Quarter, and The Public. There was NOT a place we didn't love. We took an Uber to Tybee Island to go Paddle boarding which I highly recommend. We got cheese and crackers from Kroger to eat at the cottage on the adorable shared patio. It was so comfortable and the perfect home base

I am so happy to read this review. This is exactly what I am striving for, thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback
Great small cottage, set up somewhat like a studio. Perfect for a couple. We spent two nights. Very clean and in a quiet spot. The neighborhood is beautifu and this part of town is where the locals live. We parked on Jones street which you can enter the cabin through a courtyard from Jones st. I will say it is a good walk to river and market Street. After walking a few times we decided to use uber which is only $5. The cheapest way to go.
My husband and I absolutely loved Mary's tiny cottage in Savannah's historic district. It is located on a quiet street, has a lovely shared patio space, and everything you need for a getaway! While the space is limited, it is utilized in a way that feels open and airy. Not once did we feel cramped or like we needed additional room. This place has everything you need- even a washer and dryer! The location is great because it is tucked away from the party scene on River Street, but allows for walking to all the major sites around Savannah. We parked our car on Friday and didn't move it (except to respect the street sweeping) until we departed on Sunday. Mary, thank you for such a wonderful experience!
We loved staying in this tiny cottage. It was the perfect size and within walking distance to almost everything we did. We were able to explore Savannah for most of the day, come back and nap, and then head out to see all the night life. I would highly recommend this place for anyone. The only complaint we had is we wanted to watch one of the movies there-- Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, but the DVD player was broken- so we just went out and bought the book at a very neat bookstore!
We loved this property. Was exactly what we needed. We fixed breakfast at the cottage and headed out on foot to explore nearly everyday. Short walk to everything. Savannah is a great place to visit no matter your age. Hope to go again sometime
This was our second trip to Savannah and we will never stay in a hotel again! First of all, great location. We were able to walk to many restaurants and attractions including the Riverfront. Favorite restaurants were Clary's (for breakfast) and Screamin' Mimi's (for pizza). We were able to park close to the house every day just be sure to pay attention to the street sweeping signs. We bought parking passes for our time there but ended up and never needed them. Second, the tiny house was wonderful! It was much better than staying in a hotel. The kitchen is moderately stocked but we made do and improvised when we cooked or heated leftovers up. The bed is comfy too and is not in a separate room however. There is ample closet space if you are staying for several days. This house is right on the 'alley' so traffic noise can be a little loud at times. We would definitely recommend this property in the future.
My boyfriend and I rented this place during the RocknRoll marathon weekend. It was in a great location, close to everywhere we wanted to be. The bed was comfortable and everything about it was just cute as could be. We will definitely stay here again.
everything you need
Great price! Great location! Great space! Wonderful little apartment with everything you need...just a few minutes walk from any of Savannah's downtown attractions. We will recommend this to our friends
We rented this one-room carriage house for 2 nights and fell in love with it and its location. Do not let the small square footage fool you, it worked perfectly for us. We even put on some John Cougar Mellencamp on the old-style record player and danced a bit. The location is excellent. We parked on the main road and walked all over town. Very clean, everything you need is provided. We will rent this place again if we return to Savannah, which is so beautiful.
Lovely place situated within the historic district, but just far enough away from the congestion of tour buses and crowds to make it peaceful as well as convenient. Perfect for two, walkers, sightseers. All the comforts of home, downsized: full kitchen, washer/dryer, vacuum, flat screen TV (which accommodates Chromecast device for those who want to stream), queen-sized bed, ample closet space. We had a great time and definitely will be back!
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying at this little cottage. It's close to the river and squares in town - we walked mostly and took uber for less than $5 to get back one night. Parking on side street was also no problem. A great deal for $80/night when we visited. TV was limited two a few channels, but DVDs were available to watch if we'd wanted them. Super cute, clean little cottage. Shower was pretty tiny but worked for us.
This cottage has everything you need and more for a little getaway! Perfect for a couple. We rented bikes which we highly recommend! We also enjoyed walking everywhere on the days we did not have the bikes. The washer and dryer is super convenient and to have a full kitchen set was a big bonus. Better than staying in a hotel. Mary had everything ready for us and was available to answer any questions we had. The guest book and suggestion notebook were also extremely helpful in deciding where to eat and what to see! Definitely would recommend this to the next guests!!!
The location couldn't have been better and everything we wanted to do was so close and convenient. The layout is perfect for a couple and has everything you would need. The washer/dryer was a HUGE bonus and even down to the ice trays in the freezer, Mary makes it as stress-free as possible. The place was spotless and just felt clean all the way around. The book by the side of the bed along with all the brochures became so helpful and it was awesome being able to read reviews and recommendations from past guests. We spent 2 days at Tybee Island (must eat at the Rock House and get their pizza...trust me!) and had the most relaxing time laying out, swimming and watching the sunsets on the pier. You should definitely get a daiquiri from Wet Willies before heading to the pier, try the mix of the White Russian with the Chocolate...Yum!! One of the days we spent walking around Historic Savannah. The Cathedral was stunning beyond belief. The Riverfront is a must see and you should check out the street vendors who create art out of palm trees. We had to buy a few of their pieces. You HAVE to eat at Zunzi's on York Street, we ended up eating their twice during our trip! We took a drive to the Bonaventure Cemetery and the Wormsloe Plantation to drive under the oaks. I highly recommend doing this. We already want to come back and would love to stay here again. You will not be disappointed by staying at Mary's Tiny Cottage. It made our already wonderful vacation...perfect!
My fiancée and I just spent 3 nights in the tiny Cottage while taking care of tasks for our upcoming wedding in Savannah. The Cottage is a studio that is decorated in a very cute style and has everything you need for a few days' stay- even a washer/dryer! There is a full kitchen with a small fridge - so don't bring too many groceries with you. It was just fine for us to keep our breakfast items chilled and restaurant left-overs. All utensils you need for reheating and cooking simple meals are furnished. Because it is so small it's best for visitors who plan to spend most of their time exploring the city and not as much time hanging around the Cottage. But if you're in Savannah I cant imagine not wanting to be out and about : ). It's within walking distance of most thing's you'll want to see as long as you like walking. I arrived with an injured foot so we made great use of the Savannah pedicabs as they could pick us up at our front door and take us anywhere in the historic district we wanted - they work on an honor system so you pay the drivers what you feel they deserve for their efforts. We did bring a car but didn't want to use it to explore and have to find a parking space wherever we went. We had no problem finding a parking space on nearby streets close the the Cottage and left it there most of the time. The only small problem we had was the floor was not swept well when we arrived - my fiancée noticed immediately, found the broom and took care of the task right away. Everything else was clean and bright. I would recommend this for a single or couple who is planning a short stay in lovely Savannah!
The cottage is fairly centrally located in the Historic District. A short walk to the top of Forsyth Park and about a 10 minute walk to the waterfront. The cottage has stainless steel appliances as pictured and was the perfect size for two adults. The only con would be if you are a larger than average size adult, the shower might seem a little small. The property was well maintained and reaching the property manager was very easy. The property manager was very responsive as we had a small issue upon arrival that was immediately resolved. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars close by. The Kroger (supermarket) is nearby as well. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Savannah.
The cottage was perfect for our weekend in Savannah. Everything was clean, comfortable, and just as described. The owner was easily accessible by text, should we have needed anything. Parking wasn't an issue, and once we parked our car, we were able to walk into downtown. We were thankful that linens and towels were provided, and used the washing machine once. We would definitely stay again.
We loved our stay in the Tiny House! The location is perfect for walking everywhere in the Historic District - close to lots of restaurants and a grocery store. The house was spotless and filled with special touches. We especially loved the record player and quaint courtyard out back. The owners were awesome to deal with, we're hoping to return soon!!
This cute little studio was perfect for a week long getaway with my husband. We were ideally situated to walk everywhere in Savannah. We didn't use our car the whole time. Our host was very accommodating with questions, her guide for the city came in handy when deciding on restaurants. We had a great stay!
We stayed at this adorable "tiny house" for the first time. Not being our first time in Savannah. We wanted something different from a hotel. This was just perfect! So spotlessly clean and cozy. We parked our car and walked everywhere. It was perfect for two who enjoy strolling through the lovely neighborhoods! We will return!
We loved staying at the tiny cottage. It was a great size and more comfortable and individual than a hotel room. It was great to have the kitchen and laundry available, and the location was fantastic for walking almost anywhere. We'd definitely stay here again!
This tiny cottage was exactly what we hoped for! It's so unique and adorable. It is small but having the kitchen and laundry was a great bonus over a normal hotel room. The location was great, we walked everywhere. We had decadent meals at The Public, Treylor Park and The Pink House. Savannah is awesome. We will go back and if possible we would book this same VRBO again next visit.
